Seems odd not to mention that he’s lowered his K-rate for 28% to 19% during this period. Clearly, he’s deliberately letting the ball get deeper and making adjustments to put more balls in play.
Tread very carefully here. The laws of unintended consequences here are significant…from allowing teams to stash guys on 2-way deals, to enabling even more pitchers to churn on active rosters (if you look to expanding 40-man).
I understand the difficulties in firing Laz Diaz, but maybe the league should not count hitting or pitching results for games he’s behind the plate…and only count game results for potential end-of-season tie-breaking scenarios.
