  1. Not really. He’s cooked…a significant part of why Atlanta is bad. The 2 runs in 4+ tonight will significantly lower his era.
  2. 84 pitches to get through 4 innings. Yikes.
  3. If one were to only watch Twins games this season, you’d swear that every single team has an elite bullpen…or at least, a better bullpen than the Twins. Have we ever scored even a few runs after the sixth inning to take a lead or pull away. Once? Against the White Sox, maybe?
  4. Good news. We didn’t have to use Duran in the 9th. Should be fresh for tomorrow.
  5. Regarding Raya: Has a relief pitcher ever been ranked as high as #6 before? Warm weather yesterday, no interruptions or super long half-innings to go through. On 5 days rest. And still…after a pretty clean 3rd inning…not even allowed to start the 4th inning. Drafted almost 5 years ago now. Will turn 23 this season. He’s not a serious starting prospect. There’s a reason he’s always been handled differently…and he’s always been handled differently. Although some here will continue to deny the obvious.
  6. Or…in the Mets case…sky high payroll, and not elite. The Mets are darn close to elite, though… it’s only about 20 minutes away by car.
  7. Nice series win against a good team. Three out of last four. Nice to see the lads smiling and laughing a bit. Can this club get to league average offensively? Probably not, but I can see it if I squint hard. If they can, they would win their share, I think. Salvage a season at least from an entertainment standpoint.
  8. I’ve been told he’s dominating. When he’s dominating.
  9. Maybe Jax thinks it’s the 9th inning.
  10. Sounds like a lot of work simply to state the obvious. Without compensation. You honestly think Baldelli isn’t a part of the problem at this point? It’s the one move that has a chance of making at least a small difference immediately…and show the fan base that you care at all. Meanwhile, there’s the hope that new ownership will make the additional changes to change the coarse of this franchise.
  11. Doesn’t matter if he’s going to hit like that! But just in terms of his defensive future… Is it just me…or does Lee look really thick and slow??
  12. Good thing for Ober the pitch clock doesn’t stay live until the ball finally arrives at the plate. Hey, whatever works! Great inning there.
  13. This could have been written about almost every manager in the league. With the absurd number of pitchers held on active rosters now, there are precious few options when multiple veterans perform poorly. By default you‘re left with young optionable guys that were deemed unready when the season began. Do other teams have more/better options in the minors? Some do…many don’t. Is the difference between the bottom of the Twins active roster and that of other teams humongous? In most instances it’s marginal, that’s why they aren’t regulars. The one and only fix is to roster better veteran players before the season begins. Meanwhile, Rocco can share at least a little of the blame for the regression in performance of multiple players.
  14. These guys were all (90%+ of all mlb) developed from early youth baseball right through the amateur and minor league years to hit with one approach…wait for a pitch that you can drive and hit it in the air…preferably to your pull side. To make them ‘contact’, ‘situational’, or any other kind of hitter at the major league level is an exercise in futility. If you want to change the approach, you need to scout, acquire, and develop with that approach in mind. Anyone whose job was running a baseball team would realize this….right?
  15. If the team pooled their salaries for todays game and gave it back to the fans divided equally among to 5,000 brave souls that actually attended tonight…each fan would get a check for about $185 on their way out the gates. A little more if you include the salaries of Rocco and Falvey. I think that would be fair.
  16. Unwilling to pay his price. But willing to bet that two cheap minor leaguers would work out.
  17. I don’t know. He was 29 when that picture was taken.
  18. I never blame ANYONE for not going to the University of Minnesota.
  19. Bueckers goes number 1 overall. Nice for Minny girls BB.
  20. Missing the point…it’s the same for the opponents. It’s never a good excuse. I DO think it effects some guys.
  21. Agreed. 90% of them have spent their lives in Florida, SoCal, and Dominican Republic. And it’s not like trying to hit major league pitching (or pitching to major league hitters) is anything like layering up to go check your beaver traps.
  22. MLB had the Twins at 52% to win based on the pitching matchup. A bit flawed. How much better does our pitching ACTUALLY have to be than the opponent’s to overcome the chasm in hitting talent??
  23. Strike 3 to Alonso is called ball 4.
  24. Like it. We need the fielding practice.
