  1. Inspirational. How can the club NOT dominate the 2nd half after that speech!?
  2. Simple explanation. Tuition goes directly to Maduro.
  3. At a minimum, we needed 3 quick outs to turn the lineup over for the bottom of the 3rd. We got ‘em.
  4. Depends on who that is on the mound wearing SWR’s jersey.
  5. The Twins over/under at 2 1/2 runs just went to even odds.
  6. Only one of them has a man cave with an MVP trophy.
  7. ALC records vs NLC… Detroit 8-7 KC 6-7 TC 3-9 CLE 6-12 CHI WS 3-9 Meanwhile no division has more than 2 teams with negative run-differential…except the ALC, which has 4. Twins are 11-14 in the division.
  8. Gonzalez has the highest floor of any hitting prospect we have, IMO. There’s Jenkins…but then there’s Jenkins health. Gonzalez doesn’t K…K-rate didn’t so much as blip on the AA promotion, and now it looks like the walk rate is going up. At 21, he’s doing what he’s doing as one of the youngest guys (other than Jenkins) on the Wichita roster. The fear is that the power never really shows up. If not, he would still have a good chance of being a mid-to-upper 700’s OPS guy…above-average BA and OBP…and corner OF with average-ish range, but a cannon for an arm.
  9. How is trading Ryan ‘pivoting toward 2026’? He’s arb eligible, not a free agent. I’m all for pivoting toward the future, but at 29 and signed through 2027? When he’s actually performing at a true #1 level? If the premise is to sell high and go big, I’d rather do it (if I do it) with Buxton or Correa (not exactly selling high at the moment)…simply because of more confidence that the system can kick out above average, or better, replacements at those positions.
  10. Wow. Ryan big-time snub. Yes, I’d probably have Buxton ahead of him….although, fwiw, Ryan has more WAR right now. Ripped off. Oh, well…get some rest, young man!
  11. It looks more like 2026, or maybe 27 right now. Not that that’s gonna make anyone feel much better right now.
  12. Not far away. Standing over a grill, 90 and humid, mosquitoes the size of large hummingbirds. Love the 4th!!
  13. My bad. Cell phone connection is terrible where I am, I misheard. Apparently the money was coming into an establishment in VERGAS Minnesota (p. 354), not VEGAS Nevada. And it wasn’t $49.5 million, it was 49 dollars and 50 cents. Word on the street is, a couple of lads called the Karlsson Twins pooled their money for the Twins to score one or more at 10-1. Also sometimes referred to as the Karlsson Cousins, for some reason. But, I digress. PARTY IN VERGAS!!
  14. Sources are saying a ton of smart money in Vegas has the Twins breaking out in the seventh.
  15. The objective wouldn’t be to be better now, would it. Now is lost, and tomorrow doesn’t look any better.
  16. At Tropicana it hits a stanchion. Must not have replaced it with Steinbrenner Field in the computer program. The other accepted answer is…Yellowstone.
  17. At least we’re having the discussion we should be having. Sell. Not buy. I’m fine with almost all of the expiring contracts going for anything more than a bag of balls. Selling high (and healthy) on Buxton should be considered…but even for a spectator offer (which this isn’t, even taking into account the financial aspect)…this FO doesn’t have the spine to do that, if it meant winning even one less game in 2025. “We competing! We’re in 2nd place!” Besides, of all players, trading Buxton would scream the loudest: “We failed!!!” Not happening.
  18. Funderburk takes on the Jonah Bride roll on the mound for a week. Although, he may be a slightly better hitter than Bride.
  19. Yeah…Castro’s not being used as a reliever. He’s started 9 of the 14 games he’s appeared in…and piggybacked the other times. Good month nonetheless.
  20. Two nice starts in a row for SWR. Way to go, young man! It was just a matter of time before the Marlins would succumb to the relentless pressure that is the Twins offense. Also of note: as I type this, the Twins are just a few outs on Chicago’s north side from absolutely blowing past the Guardians into second place in the ALC. I think I can actually hear Poland and Falvey patting each other on the back right now.
  21. That was a ‘back-foot slider’ from SWR. It struck the back foot of a fan 15 rows up in the right field bleachers as he was engaged with a beer vendor.
  22. Darn. I was hoping we’d follow up that first-inning explosion with more runs.
