    The fan base mesmerized by the current 15.6% odds at the post season and 0.3% of winning the World Series…and would be legitimately perfectly satisfied if those odds went to 35 and 1 at some point before the trade deadline. The forever “we’re still in it” crowd in the era of a terrible ALC and 3 wild cards. They’re easy to find, including in these threads.

    Agreed. Sell high. Unfortunately, the obvious case for trading him makes it less likely that this org will do it. Because…after all, we’re “competing”. 3rd lowest team bWAR in all of baseball, maybe THE worse defensive team, bullpen a complete dumpster fire, starting pitching a work in progress, and can’t get your head above water in a horrible division in a horrible league. And the one thing that Larnach is relatively good at…offense…is the one and only thing the team can be expected to be decent at without him. But, you could get hot and steal the last wild card spot…so, better to do nothing. Especially, when your fan base swallows the pile of false hope that you regurgitate year after year.

    The Twins had 11 chances to draft Wrobleski in 2021. None of the 11 they took ahead of him currently own positive WAR in the majors. The last guy (their 11th round pick, 3 picks in front of Wrobleski) they took a guy they failed to sign. It’s not just payroll that makes the Dodgers much, much better than the Twins in recent years.

    When expectations are set sufficiently low by payroll and roster construction…say, 10 games under 500 by mid June, then 5 games under gets fans interested, and 500 is enthusiastically celebrated. Even here. The Pohlads are high-fiving themselves at the dinner table. They’ve got this formula perfected.

    Definitely something that will need to be figured out with Culpepper and Houston on the way. Don’t see much urgency on it right now, though. This season should be used to let guys like Keaschall and the younger pitchers play it out to get more data points for future roster construction. If that means moving Keaschall around some…fine.

    Are we to ignore the multiple seasons of injury and underperformance prior to the last couple seasons? There’s a very good reason he and his agent grabbed the “discount”. 2022 and 2023 were washes. In ‘23…the one and only season the club was good enough to win a postseason series…he produced exactly nothing in the effort. 2024 he missed 60 games. It’s paid off the last two season big-time. He’s having a great season on the heals of a very good season. Unfortunately, it’s wasted on this club. If I were him, I’d seek a trade to a team with a real chance this year and over the next couple of years. He doesn’t owe this organization anything. Personally, I’d love to see him legitimately play for a championship…much more fun if it was for the Twins,,,but would still be fun.
