    Come on…there’s zero chance the Twins make an offer that convinces Ryan to not hit the open market after ‘27. Even a potential hard cap isn’t going to lower the market appreciably for front line starters….look at the premium positions in the NFL. I guess there is one chance…if Ryan has a significant injury in 2026 which significantly impacts his availability or effectiveness. Kinda like Buxton getting close to free agency after a couple of years of basically not playing, and accepting the discounted Twins offer out of FOMO. Not something to hope for.

    If so, Buxton is still on second after the walk to Lee. And if 1st base is open Lee gets walked on purpose. Buxton doesn’t score in that inning regardless. No harm. One of Bell and Clemens had to get a hit either way. And down by 3 in the 8th Keaschall has to 1000% sure.

    What’s the latest on Olivar’s development at the catcher position? Seems he’s always hit.

    So DFA the 25-year-old, who you’ve really never given a chance in the bullpen?? It’s not like there weren’t several other perfectly acceptable DFA choices if you had to clear a roster spot. SWR is younger than Matthews, Festa, Bradley…a few months older than Prielipp. No idea what his future holds. Still, this feels like a short-sighted choice. Typical of this organization.

    Two ways to look at this one… It’s not good when you have to use guys like Taylor Rogers (at this stage of his career) to close one-run games. It’s not good to go 6 straight innings without scoring one measly run after you’ve taken a one-run lead through 3. If you’d told me the Twins wouldn’t score again after the 3rd, I probably would’ve been happy with a one-run loss.

    Twins one of 4 teams who are at least 10 games under 500 against teams with winning records (500 or better)…Twins, San Francisco, California, Colorado. Winning percentage against winning teams they’re 3rd worse. (Yankees having played only TB and Mil are the worse in an anomaly, Colorado is 2nd worse, then Twins, followed closely by KC)

    Both can be true. Larnach can be the 3rd or 4th currently best performing position player on the team, and still not be very valuable. He’s on a bad team. There’s nothing that he does particularly well for a maybe-average defensive corner outfielder…maybe better OBP (this year anyway), but almost no power. More Larnach’s will bring more mediocrity. Yes, he’s not near one of the clubs current top problems. Still, in the longer term you gotta aim higher.

    Perhaps most encouragingly, he has continued adding more game power… Huh? 2 home runs in 102 AAA PA coming into this year. 2 in 111 PA this year. Where is this added power? I 100% think he CAN develop good power. But the approach he currently employs doesn’t necessarily add up to future plus power.

    They don’t have to trick themselves. The annual objective is to trick the fan base. And that’s pretty easy to do in these parts, apparently.

    “Top” prospects?? The way I read this, the only TOP prospects where there’s a decision in this regard are Culpepper and Jenkins. Jenkins may be moot. (Yes, there’s a chance he’s healthy and ready sometime this year, but with him it’s far from certain.) To me, it’s a reason to bring up guys on the 40-man (at least) sooner rather than later. You need to know what you have. I know we all have our favorites and there’s always a reason to “stick with the veteran” when you’re kinda, sorta, competitive…but more than half the active roster…position-player and relievers…are at or below replacement level.

    Don’t know if anyone saw the replay view of Lee’s double last night from behind the 3rd base coach. Buxton was an absolute blur around 2nd and 3rd. And then literally skipped and danced his way past the dugout. And yet he can’t play CF? Things that drive me crazy. Couldn’t care less about “playing it safe”. From what? We’ve seen time and again there’s about 20 ways he can get injured beyond plays in CF. Please just put the best lineup on the field and in the batting order.

    Huh??? Numerous players hit them with regularity. James Wood hit 4 in one homestand recently. You can look it up easily. Lots of players.

    Here’s how it works with Twins prospects…. The org won’t really say, they’ll hedge, they’ll hint, they’ll suggest, they’ll insinuate, but always disclaim. Whatever timeframe you can discern from all this…multiply by 2.

    If he remains mostly healthy the return would be, without question, substantial. But, moot if the offer isn’t from a team for whom he’d move.
