    Take that, Rockies! Let the record show that we scored just as many runs as them in the series. It’s not our fault the rest of the league has outscored them by 259 runs.

    Looks like a lot of work put into this article. I don’t know for SURE if that’s the case, because I didn’t read it. Any analysis that starts with ‘Buying’ is a non-starter for me. There should be a class action law suit brought by the fans against the org if real buying happens.

    It’s the kind of performance that might end a pitcher’s season (or even career), but the Twins…. If I had a dime. While Davis’s big-league ERA is unsightly, his minor-league track record in 2025 paints a different picture. In 32 innings at Triple-A Oklahoma City, he’s posted a 3.94 ERA… He’s pitched 165 innings in AAA with a 4.84 ERA and 1.494 WIP. Couldn’t get anyone out in AAA as recently as last year, in a much larger sample. There’s always the chance lightning strikes. But, it’s the optionability. Gotta churn those extreme low-leverage innings-eaters.

    The author overstates the value of these returns using mostly words, and some bad numbers… Dylan Floro, a 33-year-old journeyman with a 2.06 ERA, was flipped for Andrés Chaparro, a slugging corner infielder with a .950+ OPS in Triple-A. Chaparro, for instance, is 26 years old, he’s had over 1000 AAA PA, with an 863 OPS (950+??)…all in the International League (almost identical to Edouard Julien’s IL OPS, in addition to being the same age as Julien). Meanwhile, he’s only playing DH and 1B in 2025, so his status as a ‘corner infielder’ also seems in question. The profile is much more “40-man roster depth” than “emerging corner-infield slugger”.

    The guy who manages a team that is 7-3 in their last 10…above 500 in a very tough division, with a positive run differential…and 500 against teams with winning records…and for a team that zero people expected to do much this year? Yeah…I’d hate to have that guy. What a mess.

    There’s nothing that can be done when the pre-game plan had him going 5, followed by emptying the bullpen in game one of the series.
