  1. The pitcher that stymied the Twins for 5 innings last night (and that you’d never heard of) is one month YOUNGER than Prielipp…and chosen 5 rounds later than Prielipp in the 2022 draft. One, always reject the narrative this org has any special ability to identify and develop amateur arms. Two, reject the narrative that Prielipp has been ‘dominant’ in AA this year. He hasn’t been. Due to the injuries, Prielipp was a lottery ticket draft pick…albeit high-ceiling lottery pick.. And, again in large part due to injuries, he remains a long-shot as a starter.
  2. The sad part is, the org has us conditioned to almost HOPE for a trade (as opposed to letting him walk after 2027). If he keeps this up, history tells us that there’s zero chance the Twins pay the price to win the free agent auction. You can hope for an extension, but that ship has sailed. As long as he’s healthy, he has zero motivation to extend. So fun to watch pitch.
  3. Oh, goodie!! Stability! Or is that stagnancy? Potato/Pototo. And, who doesn’t love stagnancy!? Like It or Not, Pohlads Staying Put Means Stagnancy for Twins Leadership
  4. Of all the legitimate reasons to dislike this administration and their recent actions, which could include reasons like “Varland is pretty good and might get better”….the “they traded one of us” is the stupidest and least legitimate.
  5. If the Twins were a publicly traded stock, how much would it be down right now!? A ton, but not so much that you wouldn’t continue to short it. They found someone to inject enough capital to cover their debt. Yay!
  6. Has there been an Em Rodriguez sighting anywhere in the recent past? The silence is deafening.
  7. I agree…kinda. But he’s 25 years old next year. If he’s so talented, it’s time to make a call and use him…or at least find out that he’s not as talented as we thought. Even if that means he’s in the Twins bullpen.
  8. It terms of commitment to the craft and willingness to go the extra mile to improve and/or gain an edge, never bet against someone that was an elite wrestler. The work ethic and mental discipline/toughness tends to be off the charts. I’m sure the ceiling isn’t quite as high as it might seem right now. But whatever the ceiling is, you get the feeling he’ll be able to get there if he can remain mostly healthy.
  9. He’s not slow, he’s fast. But, yes, he might not end up being ‘quick’ enough to play SS at the major league level. Because of his arm, 3B will be the most likely second choice on the IF, and they’re already giving him a taste there. But in the meantime, they are challenging him primarily at SS (in the IF), which I agree with and is consistent with what they did with Lewis and Lee. He’s 20. Years away. Much easier and quicker to transition to 2nd and 3rd if you’ve been developed at SS than the other way around.
  10. Agree. He’s not done being good, either. Thanks for the article.
  11. This! Winokur quietly having a pretty nice year as a 20-year old in A+ ball. Strike-outs inching down, finding some power, steeling bases even more efficiently, continuing to play both CF and SS. Very, very encouraging. Starting to feel like his ceiling is very high. Obviously, a long way to go.
  12. ERod??? You’d have to find him first. And while I wouldn’t mind them giving Prielipp a taste, he’s being challenged plenty in AA. I just want to see him finish his first ever injury-free pro season healthy.
  13. I agree with most of this. Although, we’re not going to see Ryan or Buxton’s health tested. Very unlikely. Ryan won’t be going deep even when cruising…probably gets shut down at some point or at least more rest days before starts, if not skipped here and there…and Buxton will get plenty of days off and DH games…and also is likely to get shut down at some point. I would be surprised if they haven’t already had at least a “if not now, when” conversation regarding Buxton.
  14. I remain confused that lack of power is González’s biggest risk regarding major league potential. The bat speed sure looks decent. And look at the body. I mean, maybe he’s actually 25 years old, and this is right about where he peaks? Maybe he never develops the ability to consistently launch? I don’t know. All I know is that he looks very, very hitterish.
  15. You’re kidding, right? The national baseball media barely knows where the Twins play. If they made a consensus list of the top 100 disappointments of the past decade the Twins wouldn’t make it. At the top of the list would be items like…Yankees fail to win a World Series, followed immediately by the Dodgers only win 2 World Series, and Boston only wins 1.
  16. The pitch Keaschall hit for the game-winning homer to RIGHT FIELD was absolutely identical in location and velocity to the pitch Lewis K’d on yesterday in the bottom of the 7th with RiSP….fastball at 96, up, and on the outside corner… …to RIGHT FIELD. I’m talking to you, Royce.
  17. If we go on to win the pennant, we’re going to look back at this performance by Tonkin as the turning point.
  18. I’ve heard there are many ways to score from 3rd with less than two out, without the benefit of a hit. Though, I’ve never actually seen it.
  19. Rocco must be having a blast! Always loved managing a bullpen like tomorrow’s game doesn’t matter.
  20. I’m old enough to remember when Lewis would take pitches off the outside corner and hit then hard to right field.
  21. He’s proving that his arm won’t fall off if he’s asked to throw 90+ pitches. He’s also doing a pretty good job of proving 90+ pitches gets about 10 outs.
  22. Longer term, I don’t know if it will turn out to be the correct move or not. Depends on what, if anything, is done with the money saved. I’m pretty sure Correa is NOT done being a good player. Simply getting rid of him doesn’t make the club better over the next few years.
  23. It’s called tanking. Don’t expect Buxton to be running around in center field much for the remainder of the year, regardless of current health status.
