    Break up the Wind Surgery! Don’t want to say it’s all Houston, because there were other call-ups…and Houston is doing well, not spectacularly, in the batters box…but there’s definitely been some life in Wichita lately.

    Mauer barely played half his career games at catcher. There are adult baseball fans walking around that remember him as a slightly above average first baseman. Meanwhile, among us that remember Mauer’s HoF-worthy catching years, nobody that I’ve read, heard, or watched has tried to compare Lackey to Mauer. Nobody. Nobody. If he’s great…if…it will be much more in a Buster Posey fashion than Mauer. And that’s a hope, not a comp. This comes across as simply an excuse to riff on someone’s all-time favorite player.

    If you sell the veterans, you WILL be burning option years. Still the right thing to do.

    To be fair, it was only most runs in a terrible AL.

    If hit by home batter: hit…to juice his stats If hit by away batter: error…to protect home pitcher’s stats. Official scorers are local guys that have to see/live with the home players. That’s the problem.

    Probably. Rojas threw 18 pitches on Saturday Prielipp threw 32 yesterday. Raya threw 22 pitches on Saturday (with poor results)

    I agree he gets a curtesy promotion at some point this year, probably. But not on the 40-man, so maybe later? Not that I know exactly where they are with the numbers right now.

    Since Buxton became the permanent “every-day” starting center fielder at the beginning of the 2016 season: Twins starting center fielders in lineup… 978 games (and counting) - someone not named Byron Buxton…btw, someone should make a list of these guys 640 games (39.6%) - Byron Buxton If he started 338 consecutive games in CF…basically every game through the end of the 2028 season, he’d just break 50%. 11 seasons. And yet, from a personnel standpoint, the org has gone into almost (if we give them credit for MAT) every one of those seasons somehow expecting Buxton to be the answer in CF. Mind-boggling.

    Well, if you’re going to give up 10+, I guess today looks like it was a good day to do it.

    The odds are against both regardless, since they have so far to go. But I think your chances of being wrong on Tait are still significant.

    Nice! Meanwhile, the 19 year-old with Fort Myers that I’m most exited about is Luis Fragoza. Riding a high BABiP right now…but 10 HR in 184 PA…and K’ing a shade under 25%. Also…did the Pohlads pocket our International signing pool last winter? Because the DSL Twins are horrendous. Keeping in mind, many organizations field multiple teams…the Twins lone squad is dead last of the 51 teams in Pitching. And I don’t think today’s 16-0 trouncing is going to change that.

    30% K rate is overmatched? What would you call Quentin Young then,…6 months younger than Tait and in low-A ball? I’m guessing you wouldn’t have him in your top 20?

    Who in their right mind was concerned about Tait? A ton of time still to improve offensively and behind the plate. 19 in high-A…and it hasn’t been like he’s overmatched. The power shows and the K’s not out of control, either. What were we expecting? We got him and Mick Abel for Jhoan Duran, not straight-up for Mariano Rivera.

    IMO…and at this particular point in time…Jenkins/Lackey, then Culpepper not that far behind. Then, off in the distance, is a small pack, lead by someone that isn’t Emmanuel Rodriguez.

    Plus arm (even for a catcher). I don’t think they’ll be in a hurry to move him off until he proves he doesn’t have the receiving skills. Wouldn’t be surprised if the herd is thinned a bit at the deadline…one of Oliver, Diaw, Jimenez, Tait… IF they consider him a catcher, I don’t see this as a Sabato comp at all. The only chance Sabato ever had was to hit spectacularly. Even as he is, If Sabato was an average-ish defensive catcher, instead of a poor first-baseman, he’d be a very legit prospect right now…probably with at least one shot in the majors by now.

    That’s probably the backup plan. They’ll give him a chance at catcher with that arm. Catchers (that hit) are worth more…including in trades. But, we’ll see.

    I want one of the two college guys. Don’t feel like waiting for another HS guy.
