  1. Solution… climb down off the high wire, and SELL, SELL, SELL. There’s a simple and accurate phrase for making small sells and small acquisitions…or balancing on the high wire…or straddling the fence. It’s called…”doing nothing”. Again.
  2. That’s 3 consecutive series out of the break where we weren’t swept. SO close, you can taste it. Let’s trade a couple of rookie league prospects for an average left-handed reliever, and make that run!
  3. Ryan’s probably my favorite player on the club. Having said that, you HAVE to start turning this roster over. You have to. And…on a relative basis, the Twins have more near emerging pitching than hitting. If you trade Ryan you need to get a hitting stud that is ready or very close to it as the center piece.
  4. An organization willing to spend would have one installed underneath the batters background at this point you would think. If he develops claustrophobia, he’d have to retire.
  5. “Sore”…and apparently don’t want to play him until MRI results are in.
  6. Question: are we required to be happy for Irvin seeing as though he’s ‘one of us’ and all. I’m sure he spent plenty of time dreaming about a day like this at Target Field.
  7. I don’t want to ‘like’ this. But, it sure seems to be the case.
  8. What high leverage opportunity? Rocco a step ahead of us once again.
  9. Their most dangerous hitter has done nothing the entire series, and they’re still going to take it.
  10. Safe from being traded from the Twins to a good team and a chance to play in the playoffs. What a relief they must be feeling.
  11. You must love this front office, then. Play for those 75-85 win seasons, so that you never have a 60 win season…at the price of never even sniffing great. Look at the Tigers in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021…look at them the last two years. Look at the Astros in the early teens before they won their multiple World Series. You can start over with youth…you can be average(ish) forever…or you can spend yourself into contention.
  12. You find out if they’re going to be good major Leaguers by playing them in AAA? So you can play average veterans that have proven they aren’t and never will be needle movers in the bigs?
  13. The lads seem quite disinterested today. Some of the leaders seem to be screaming SELL…if not, SELL ME!
  14. Jan 10 article…Other Top Prospects Poised to Debut While Jenkins is the headliner, he’s not the only prospect in the system ready to make an impact. Outfielder Emanuel Rodriguez could claim a regular role in the Twins’ outfield by mid-2025, since he finished last season at Triple-A St. Paul. In 47 games, he hit .280/.459/.567 with 25 extra-base hits and a 62-to-51 strikeout-to-walk ratio. In many other farm systems, Rodriguez would be the top-ranked prospect. Rodriguez’s advanced approach at the plate and defensive versatility make him a prime candidate to fill a need at any outfield position, depending on the Twins’ roster configuration. November ‘24 prospect article on Raya (no. 5)… In a perfect world, Raya reaches the 100-inning mark for the first time in his career before August. If he is not already making starts for the Twins by then (which could be a good or bad thing) but showing he deserves a chance, they then find a place for him in the bullpen as they make a playoff push. Just two of many many references to their 2025 arrivals on TD. And, I’m not suggesting many, if any, of us disagreed at the time.
  15. Remember when Raya and Rodriguez were going to be material contributors at some point in 2025?
  16. A very good question worth asking. My answer: I don’t know. Still, it will kill me to see yet another year go by without any meaningful action.
  17. And against a team that’s actually better offensively than one might think…almost solidly league-average, in fact. Pretty encouraging for sure.
  18. So…trade guys you won’t get anything for…and hope to sneak into the playoffs. Because, 1…it’s happened before, and 2…it’s so fulfilling and meaningful to, once every two or three years, qualify for a 12-team playoff field and lose in a preliminary round. This, along with occasionally “buying” low-rent pieces that have almost zero chance of moving the needle, are two sides of the same deadline coin. If this is your position…how do you justify criticizing the FO…or ownership for that matter? They’ve been doing exactly what you’re asking for…for the past ten seasons.
  19. And Fort Myers accomplished this with almost zero hitting, even by FCL standards. Hope this is just a bump in the road for the hitters and a sign of good things to come for the pitchers.
  20. Teams buying at the deadline aren’t looking for guys that can’t make the active roster for a team like the Twins.
  21. Yes. It can happen. But getting MATERIALLY better by 2027 and beyond should be the objective.
