The Era of the “Woe is Me” Twins fan is Over
MABB1959 replied to Alex Boxwell's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It seems like longer than a couple of years! More like 20 - 30myears. -
The signing as of right now says this season will be the same as last year unless all injured players return, play AND stay healthy. It's now or never to get Buxton in the field. If he goes down right away, they need to deal with it.

If they are still out there, I highly doubt any would make a difference. It is time to see what we have in our prospects now. ALWAYS a day late and a MILLION dollars short. Same conversations year after year. I also hope they do not sign Correa because just like last year he would only sign with the Twins as his last option available, to me it is the principle. Get Royce here now before his is too old and beat up. It seems to me this is a lost year. Maybe the ALC but that would be it.

Believe in Buxton for 2023
MABB1959 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Sad but typical for most of the Twins #1 draft picks. I agree with many posts that to be the player we thought we were getting is if he plays in the outfield and not as DH and far less "rest" days as those do not seem to help. Get him out there playing and if he breaks, he breaks and we can be done with this I understand they are trying to protect the investment but a what cost? A half-year all-star? Hopefully this new medical staff can GET and KEEP him healthy for a full season. He should be able to play in 120+ games to be compared to Judge.- 64 replies

Rumor: Padres Open to Dealing Shortstop Ha-Seong Kim
MABB1959 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I love getting good/great players, but I think it is time to move up most of the 1st round draft picks. Why trade for a SS when 3 of the first-round draft picks are shortstops. and let them sink or swim in 2023. Let's see what we get. I think Tyler Jay is gone or already a bust but not sure. IMO, the longer we leave in the minors the greater chance they will already be injury prone if or when they get here. 2020 Aaron Sabato First baseman University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill, North Carolina) 27 [73] 2019 Keoni Cavaco Shortstop Eastlake High School (Chula Vista, California) 13 [72] 2018 Trevor Larnach Outfielder Oregon State University (Corvallis, Oregon) 20 [71] 2017 Royce Lewis Shortstop JSerra Catholic High School (San Juan Capistrano, California) 1 [70] 2017 Brent Rooker Outfielder Mississippi State University (Mississippi State, Mississippi) 35 2016 Alex Kirilloff Outfielder Plum High School (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) 15 [69] 2015 Tyler Jay Left-handed pitcher University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Champaign, Illinois) 6 [68] 2014 Nick Gordon Shortstop Olympia High School (Orlando, Florida) -
What Is Max Kepler’s Trade Value?
MABB1959 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I love reading TD, have gained a lot of knowledge and respect everyone on this board. Just have to ask. Is it only me or have we had these wishful discussions but always end up on the outside looking in? I have been super excited about 3 times over the last 10 years and end up disappointed most of the time. Excited to get Cruz, Correa and a little for Donaldson. Which players were your most exciting?- 64 replies

Rumor: A Potential Trade for Rafael Devers
MABB1959 replied to Richard's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Numbers and what if’s are one thing. Trading a popular player is another. If they want to build a fan base they need to have a stable fan base as well. I bet most fans don’t know but a few players right now and the American League Batting champion is needed.- 52 replies

What Would a Twins Rebuild Look Like?
MABB1959 replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The "veteran" Twins are Buxton, Gray, Gallo, Vasquez, Kepler, Polanco and Maeda. Not sure who of these 7 would be traded. From the comments seems Gray, Kepler, Polanco are Maeda are mentioned. -
How many free agent misses is too many free agent misses?
MABB1959 commented on Greggory Masterson's blog entry in Brewed in the Trough
That was the WORST, now we will spend many years trying to find a pitcher like him and not going to happen. Some will say he had a bad year and that is a little true, but he played many innings last year to help keep their BP fresh and the Twins need that big time. I think he will bounce back because his work ethic and determination will get him there. With him I don't think it was all about money he wants to be on a winning team. His dream is probably to start game 7 of a WS more than money. I bet he ran out the door as fast as he could with many remaining Twins wishing it was them. It is absolutely HORRIBLE! First issue is they have a hard time getting anyone here healthy and if they do they trade them usually for more prospects and the vicious circle starts all over. -
The Latest on the Minnesota Twins Free Agency Rumors
MABB1959 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Just finished reading about the new pitcher Toronto signed. The salary seemed reasonable, but this is troubling. “That’s one of the biggest reasons I came,” Bassitt said. “I want to be a part of a group for an extended period of time where we can really get to know each other, help each other be the best we can, then hopefully do something very special in the end. Learning each other, what makes each other tick and truly pushing each other to be the best version of ourselves off and on the field is a big thing for me.” Chris Bassitt's repertoire appeals to Blue Jays (mlb.com) Troubling because he was not on the Twins radar nor does it seem like Minnesota in not a team players want to go to.- 39 replies

How many free agent misses is too many free agent misses?
MABB1959 commented on Greggory Masterson's blog entry in Brewed in the Trough
THEY CAN AFFORD IT! Big free agents want to go to contending teams with a WS possibility. Kind of like the chicken and egg. If they don't acquire good players, they will never win and they keep claiming "small-mid" market and I don't believe that at all. They may need to go WAY over on their payroll even if they lose money to get this team going. They have pocketed a ton of money every year. Maybe not the Mauer, Puckett, Hunter, Morneau years but they were fun. If the team isn't at least fun to watch with a stable line-up no one is going to want to go to a game. Add all of this to many not being able to watch on TV makes it even worse. -

Twins Need a Minnesota Miracle
MABB1959 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Many things to be irate about. Not going after top FA’s while waiting on Correa. So what if we got a couple big names and Correa. They could go over their expected budget for a few years without bankrupting the franchise. They would for sure sell more tickets, jersey’s etc. Doing this could eventually attract better player’s. I think it is safe to assume most player’s in the prime of their career don’t want to sign with a team that can’t make a run for a World Series. Making it possible for fans to watch on TV. We need to be able to get to know our team to love them. Many if not most average fans cannot afford to go to one game maybe 2 or 3, but a family of 4 shelling out $300 is not possible for some families and is sad that parents and kids can’t make many great memories. Bad bad bad trades. We have been through quite a few seasons waiting for top prospects. They either never get here, are injury prone by the time they get here and once they do we don’t do much to keep them.- 81 replies

Rumor: Carlos Rodon Signs with the New York Yankees
MABB1959 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I was so disappointed when they let Cruz go. Not sure if he even wanted to stay. I bet it is the dream of every decent Twins player to get traded. Probably the equivalent of being promoted from AA to the MLB. I get frustrated when I see “trade Arraez for….” posts. He is a batting champion!!!!! .. -

Rumor: Carlos Rodon Signs with the New York Yankees
MABB1959 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Same old thing every year, fans start out with expectations (not high) but expectations. We watch players go off the table and then have to wait for the scraps. I 100% knew Correa would not stay as I am sure the front office did so they could say or at least put on the appearance of trying. -
Looked at Spotrac.com. Twins are 21st in salary but just as bad is they only have 5 veteran players. Of those only 3 position/every day players. Buxton is one and really can’t be counted on to be in the FIELD everyday. Kepler who doesn’t seem like a leader. Last vet is Polanco probably the best bet for some veteran leadership. One thing that is huge to me is lack of a power hitting DH.

Rumor: Twins Still in on Rodon and Swanson
MABB1959 replied to Nashvilletwin's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I don't think there are any MLB upper-level players that would consider coming here. When they are at that status playing for a contender is important and that is nowhere on the horizon for the Twins. -
Gut Punch! Carlos Correa Signs with the Giants
MABB1959 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
My biggest frustration is they did not go out for other top players while waiting on Correa. They should have taken a chance on getting a big name + Correa. Biggest problem is I do not think ANYONE wants to play for the Twins. There is the money but just as important is a long playoff run and more exciting if it ended up in a WS win. I hope I am wrong but with the team now if everyone gets healthy still won't get us far. It is hard to stop being a fan for sure but kind of wish I could -
Gut Punch! Carlos Correa Signs with the Giants
MABB1959 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The problem with the young solid core is that once they have value, we traded them away for more prosects. Been that way for as long as I can remember. Buxton is the only value player that came from the Twins system that is of great value and still here. Seems like Polanco is halfway out the door as well. Missing E Escobar, E Rosario, Hicks, imagine if we kept Ramos,
