  1. It figures that Marwin is out sick after finally starting to hit again after what has been a truly miserable season. With all the guys missing games Kirilloff would be able to play pretty much every day, so I finding it hard to justify not promoting him. I would be very happy to never see a lineup with Adrianza, Cave, and Wade again.
  2. Between the corner outfield spots and first base there are plenty of opportunities to get Kirilloff playing time. I really have no idea why the Twins seem reluctant to give him a shot.
  3. Walking anybody in Cleveland's lineup outside of Lindor or Ramirez is a huge mistake.
  4. Polanco seems like he needs a break. His ABs have been pretty bad recently with him watching good pitches down the middle and swinging at balls off the plate.
  5. Twins with some bad luck and some bad defense, but Pineda bails them out with some great pitching.
  6. Rooker being out is really unfortunate since he is the only major league ready right handed corner outfielder in the Twins system. While I love the talent I wish one of Kepler, Rosario, Cave, Wade, Kirilloff, or Larnach hit right handed.
  7. Rooker done for the year. This could open a 40 man roster spot for Kirilloff who I'd much rather see getting ABs than Cave or Wade.
  8. Twins score 8 with no hits from Polanco, Donaldson, or Cruz. I'm starting to hope the bats are finally waking up.
  9. Twins have gifted the Indians a couple of runs tonight, I really hope that isn't the difference in a loss.
  10. Both times the ball bounced off the heal of Buxton's glove. He was in position to make the play he just miss fired on the catch.
  11. I'll be curious to see how the Twins handle the rotation when Odorizzi comes back. Berrios, Maeda, and Pineda are clearly the top 3, but the last 2 spots are less clear.
  12. I know Gonzalez isn't a fast guy, but that seemed like it took a really long time for him to get to second base.
  13. Hill should have a very short leash if he goes back out for the 5th inning. If his control looks even a little shaky I'd pull him right away.
  14. Hill might be best utilized as a once through the order pitcher. He repeatedly seems to have issues with control in the 3rd or 4th inning (either walking guys or throwing it right down the middle).
  15. Hill needs to stop throwing 87 mph fastballs over the middle of the plate.
  16. Rich Hill looks really good when he's able to throw strikes.
  17. I'd give Blankenhorn a shot, he can't be worse that Gonzalez/Adrianze have been this season. It would also help evaluate whether Blankenhorn should keep his 40 man roster spot this off-season. Gordon has had no luck the past few years, this is probably the third or fourth time he could have been called up but he's missed all the opportunities due to his health.
  18. I think it will be really interesting to see if Falvey can repeat the Cleveland success with pitcher drafting and development. One somewhat strange occurrence that should be worth following is that in 2019 the Twins drafted and signed 16 college pitchers in rounds 6-25.
  19. In terms of position players and relievers the Twins farm system has been a great pipeline of talent. Unfortunately, there has been a distinct lack of starting pitchers being able to establish themselves at the major league level. The only guy since Berrios who has had moderate success has been Dobnak and he an undrafted free agent signed out of an independent league. Way too many former top 100 prospects have flamed out in the last 5 years including Meyer, Stewart, Gonsalves, Jay, and Romero. I'm hoping the next crop of Duran, Balazovic, Enlow, Canterino, Sands, and Chalmers has more success.
  20. It's kind of impressive that Thielbar was able to throw 10 straight strikes after getting to 3-2 in the count with the bases loaded.
  21. Dobnak did not pick a good time to start struggling on the mound. Two out of his last three games have been extremely poor and with Odorizzi almost back there will be competition for the back of the rotation spots.
  22. I had really hoped to never see a lineup with Wade, Cave, and Adrianza again.
  23. The bullpen games have been mostly successful, but I still would have preferred to see Duran get at least a couple of starts to see if he's ready to compete in the majors. If Duran succeeds, he can be the spot starter the rest of the year while gaining experience. If not, he will have a good idea about what he needs to work on.
  24. My guess is that the Twins are going to be extremely careful with Buxton for the rest of the regular season. I doubt he'll ever play both games of a double header and will likely get additional days off as a protective measure. Over the upcoming 7 games in 5 days stretch I'll be surprised if Buxton plays more than 4 games.
  25. I'm excited to see Rooker and hope it will mean fewer Cave/Wade plate appearances. It made sense that one of Kirilloff/Rooker would get the spot opened up when Vargas was DFAd. The downside is that without somebody going on the 45-day IL, Kirilloff seems unlikely to get a shot. The 40-man roster doesn't have much dead weight left, so adding anyone else would likely mean losing someone decent on the waiver wire.
