tarheeltwinsfan 8,556 Verified Member Posted December 3, 2022 Share this comment Looking at DeGrom's contract and Eflin's contract, and if that is going to set the standard for Rodon's contract, then I am re-thinking my desire to have the Twins sign Rodon. I'm glad the Twins are not stuck with either of those contracts 1) with an injury prone starter and 2) a starting pitcher who is not as good as what the Twins already have lined up for next year, and probably the 2 years after. Doctor Gast 10,576 Verified Member Posted December 3, 2022 Share this comment The pitching market has started. Plus some of the lesser trades will start come off the board, so if FO is interested in Narvaez (which they should be) they'd better hurry up & sign him. Some time during the winter meetings Judge will sign, then the jockeying will start. Original_JB 595 Verified Member Posted December 3, 2022 Share this comment Well, if nothing else, I'd imagine this gets Verlander the 3rd year he want from someone. DocBauer 22,243 Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2022 Share this comment DeGrom is an outstanding pitcher. At 34yo, I'm not going to say he's ancient or that his arm is about to fall off. But he's pitched so little for 2yrs and IS 34, so I just don't see how $37M per for that many years. But Texas is apparently printing their own money these days. Thinking Rodon may be more than I feel comfortable spending, and may be no chance if Correa is somehow brought back. tarheeltwinsfan and TwinsDr2021 2 Link to comment https://twinsdaily.com/forums/topic/59835-degrom-to-rangers/#findComment-1209347 Share on other sites

If they get two very good seasons and one decent season from him, I would consider that a success (and I would be surprised.) weitz41 1,421 Verified Member Posted December 4, 2022 Share this comment The DeGrom deal is a pretty big gamble by the Rangers. If it goes south, they can afford it but IDK if they can have too many bad contracts and win it that division.
