mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Toronto should challenge that call at first on the double play. Looked safe.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Just paused it at the exact perfect moment. Theres no way instant replay can help on a play like that. Granted there are enough amazingly horrible calls to make replay worth it.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Might have challenged if it hadn't already been getting late in a runaway ST game. But it will be interesting to see how use develops.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I wish Gardenhire was at this game, it makes no sense but I feel like he would go nuts when this call is reversed.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 And now the first replay. How exciting! Wake up the ump in the truck.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Inconclusive the call on the field stands, First down.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Another case of the call on the field being more important then what the replay showed. I wasn't 100% sure he was out but I was more then 75%
ashbury Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Might have challenged if it hadn't already been getting late in a runaway ST game. Yes, but I believe that the league has explicitly asked teams to exercise this option a little more freely during the spring (and in the AFL last year), if only to help accelerate the QA process before the season starts.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Just got home from the game, as my 90 old mother got pretty hot and called it quits. Maybe I should go back. On the Hicks play, he was going all the way, and looked like he had it made. The ball looked to me to roll under a folding chair the ball boy was on and Dozier kept on coming. The Toronto folks sitting next to us hadn't had a thing to cheer about yet when I left. Dozier is right on the ball. Even on the k he fouled off 2 two strike pitches before missing.
mikeee Provisional Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 The sure are having fun in the preseason!
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 "Routine Fly Ball" Nothing is routine in ST. 12-2
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Overall a horribly played game by Toronto. I'll take all these walks once the season starts but in the Spring they're just annoying.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Get rid of replay immediately. This is awful.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Pretty clear he was out, but hey why ever reverse a call.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Lets review both those plays!!!!
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Can't wait to see the first manager go nuts following a 4 minute review. In the case of baseball no reason to review 50/50 calls. Correct the horrible calls without wasting time, this system will not accomplish that.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Nice little 7 spot put up in the 9th to take a big lead against the O's!
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Yes, but I believe that the league has explicitly asked teams to exercise this option a little more freely during the spring (and in the AFL last year), if only to help accelerate the QA process before the season starts. If I'm a manager I don't request an instant replay all spring. I really don't want to have to worry that a challenge in a 12-2 spring game will be remembered during the season. And I really don't care about any call in a one run spring game either.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 2 triples from the Santana kid. Might have a shot at the opening day roster.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Mike Berardino @MikeBerardino 7m Unofficially Danny Santana was timed at 10.6 seconds on that first triple today, home to third. #mntwins

JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Mike Berardino @MikeBerardino 32m Make it 2 triples for Danny Santana, one from each side of the plate. This one scores 2. #mntwins lead 8-2 top 9, still batting .
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 So Santana's fast, then? I'm guessing so: Dustin Morse @Twins_morsecode 28m OVERHEARD: Gardy on Danny Santana, "The kid has jets, he just flies. Pretty exciting baseball player" #mntwins But so is Buxton: Dustin Morse @Twins_morsecode 30m OVERHEARD: on Byron Buxton "He's the fastest baseball player I have ever seen" #MNTwins
big dog Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Wow, am I ever looking forward to having more speed on the team. OK, and more power. And more pitching. And better fielding. Nice to have some things to be encouraged about.

J-Dog Dungan Provisional Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Berardino's Twitter feed also had a video of Buxton beating out a routine DP ball.I have a feeling such video's will become commonplace with Buxton once he reaches the Majors. I get tingles thinking about him racing around the field. Soul Patrol 2.0 w/Arcia and Hicks?
