mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Mitchell took some ugly swings but fought back to get sac fly. Could have been ball 4 pitch was up around the letters, just missed clearing the bases though.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 2 clean innings by Worley in the other game. Gave up a double to Markakis and had 2 strikeouts.
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Apparently likes high fastballs. Probably why he hasn't spent time in majors.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Hicks will leadoff again in 2nd, glad to see it. If he gets his confidence going he can be an impact player this year.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Doizer with another real solid double.
ashbury Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Doizer with another real solid double. The boxscore shows him currently with an .833 batting average. Is this just a hot streak, or can he keep this up?
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Per Bollinger: he's now 5-for-6 with three doubles so far this spring.
James Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I'll settle for .340 and above. I guess I could deal with that... if I had to.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Make it three solid innings for Worley
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 The nice thing is he hit.243 last year so even improving to just .280 should win us an extra game or 2.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Except for Swarzak's outing, it seems like most of the Twins pitchers have come into ST ready to go. Question is whether they can keep improving.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Cory Provus @CoryProvus 1h Instant replay will be available for today's game at Hammond. Gardy will be in Sarasota, so any challenges fall on Steinbach/Molitor. Does this mean the team still hasn't hammered out who's firstmate on this ship? Or simply that Provus doesn't know?
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Twins take 1-0 lead against Baltimore on Wilken Ramirez second singe. Must of made an out on the play as the inning ended.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Steinbach is managing at Hammond and Molitor is his bench coach, I believe.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Mike Berardino @MikeBerardino 16m Make it 3 shutout innings for @VANIMAL_49. 39 pitches, 30 strikes, Markakis fly-ball double and nothing else. FPS 7/10. #MNTwins Wow, I guess he did come in "in shape".
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Rhett Bollinger @RhettBollinger 9m Kevin Corrreia gets through three hitless innings with one walk. He also threw two hitless innings in Thursday's intrasquad game.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Well, geez, you step out of the room for a minute and come back and its 6-0 for the good guys.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Another solid out by Hicks driving in a run. 3 solid at bats.
ashbury Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Well, geez, you step out of the room for a minute and come back and its 6-0 for the good guys. Please try to remember this scenario in the regular season when we need a rally in the 9th.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Gibson gets credit for giving up a hit on a pop fly lost in the sun follows it up by a double play and a strikeout. Great inning.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 By opinion after watching a split squad version of this team for 4 and a half inning. Theres a chance it could take 5 or 6 games, but we will win the World Series.
Monkeypaws Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Boy, Gibson looked very sharp in that inning. Firing bullets down in the zone.
James Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Gibson gets credit for giving up a hit on a pop fly lost in the sun follows it up by a double play and a strikeout. Great inning. It really sounds like that should have been an error on Escobar, but it sounds like he lost it in the sun. No harm really, except Gibson may have one more hit than he deserves in ST.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Yeah it hit glove, but if they give a hit when the fielder never sees it hard to give an error when the fielder finds it and gives as good of an effort as he could at that point. I don't understand for the pitchers sake why thats not considered a team error though.

JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Mitchell hits one out after his earlier sac fly. Fun to see someone take advantage of opportunities.
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Mitchell must have heard I was talking about him. : )

But it sure is a lot more fun watching the Twins so far in ST than the last few seasons have been. I'll take it for as long as I can get it!

True, but in the case of split squad games half of them are being played inside of boxscores on the internet which will probably be printed on paper in the morning.
