I am opening this thread for the people who visit Twins Daily but have not yet posted on any of the forums.

If you have not yet registered, then you will need to do so. You should also read the TD Comment Policy sticky thread at the top of the Questions About MinnCentric forum. Even if you're a little shy, gather your courage and take a chance and post something here. I believe that you will find that most of us don't bite, and those who do bite better not do it here.

i've been a Twins fan for over 50 years. The general mismanagement sickens me. The Twins had the catcher of the future in Ramos. They gave him away for Mike Capps who couldn't get me out. Now we have Murphy who can't throw the pitcher out on a two-out bunt and who already has his hit for this month. The Twins have traded 3 major league outfielders for the world's tallest AAA relief pitcher (Meyer) a middle reliever (May) and a catcher who will be lucky to hit .200 (Murphy). It's not so much that the Twins lose/give away good players it's that they rarely get value in return.

Twins are going to go 20-8 in May to be above 500 by the end of the month. We need someone to be positive on these forums!

Let's hope that you are correct. Welcome to TD!

Longtime lurker.  This season I'm approaching a Guinness World Record for sighs and headshakes.  At this point I'm almost seriously wondering if Rochester's roster could yield similar performance.  I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.

Welcome to the boards ... now you can commiserate with us rather than lurking alone.

Welcome to the group of active posters.  I was wondering today if the Red Wings would win a series with the Twins.

I haven't posted in a couple of years. Cardinal fan, but, would follow the Twins in the 70's when the radio waves travelled to Missouri at night. I may start a thread on the Cards successes in the 21st century for the market size they have. As should be pointed out so far the Cards haven't had to eat a bad multi-year contract.

I follow WAR, but, always keep in mind power numbers, payroll, durability such as innings pitched, is the position tied up with a multi year contract keeping others from playing there (i.e. particularly OFers) and have to find a spot for them or trade them such as the Cards trading Lance Johnson and Van Slyke in the late 80's, how many injuries you might have and turnover of starting pitching and position players.

Look at how the Cards only lost one player in Free Agency that they should have kept- Terry Pendleton. Thankfully, they didn't sign Pujols and 1 HR Heyward to 10 year contracts. The Cards got Michael Wacha and Piscotty in the draft thanks to Pujols leaving. Look at the position turnover on baseball-reference for the first 16 years of this century and how they manage player turnover.

Good thing you didn't sign Garza since the Twins signed injury-proned Nolasco and inconsistent Santana and Hughes. The Mauer deal is turning into a disaster. Dozier needs to hit .285 one of these years.

A long season ahead.

Welcome to the ranks of active posters.  The Cardinals have an enviable history of consistent success and I look forward to your insights.

Dear Twins Daily,

I was excited when I found you 3 years ago. It was nice to see intelligent conversations from knowledgeable baseball people about the team I had adopted and became a season ticket holder.

But I have to say, your site has become incredibly snide, snarky and a game of one-upmanship on who can make this team look bad. The litany of criticism of the front office and player performance has made it unreadable (except, I guess to the few who want no part in thoughts about how we improve other than "fire or trade everyone).

Granted, things are not good. Neither were they 3 years ago, but this site, at the time was filled with with insights as to how to get better. Anymore, it reads like the comment section of the Star Tribune. I kind of suspect a crossover.

I want our team to be better. I also wish this site gave me insights on how it could happen. Anymore, I get nothing when I come here.

I want a better Twins Daily.

Dear Tim -

I think that we all want the Twins to get better.

Clearly, there has been less positivity this year than in prior years. Starting the season with a 9 game losing streak did not help, and there have not been many signs that things are likely to get better any time soon.

Our members are all free to create threads and say whatever they believe so long as they follow our posting policy. This season, the ratio of negative threads and posts has been higher than ever, but positive threads and posts still exist, particularly in the minor league forum.

As a moderator I am part of a team of 10 volunteers who are committed to keeping the discussion respectful. We delete a fair number of posts that are snide/snarky and we do our best to eliminate trolling. That said, no one at TD can compel positive threads and posts.

Now that you have made your first post, I would encourage you to consider starting a thread to initiate a discussion of how the team might get better, excluding any discussion of firing anyone. Feel free to give your own ideas or merely to solicit ideas from others. And if anyone gets snarky in such thread just click on the word "report" at the bottom of the snarky post and the moderators will deal with it.

Sometimes in life you have to give in order to get. I appreciate your perspective and invite you to take a positive role in fostering discussion of how the Twins might improve.

Agreed. I've been posting / lurking around TD roughly the same amount of time as you....It's only been the last year or so that i've really started posting. I enjoy reading most of the articles and postings by the writers and fans. In general I think it's a good bunch and the Mods are quite fair in monitoring / policing (not sure if that's the best term) the forums.

However, I do agree with you on one critical point. TD has MORE than it's fair share of posters who are more than happy to tear you apart if you criticize certain Twins players (example: Joe Mauer or Miguel Sano), or challenge the majority opinion on certain subjects. My advice is to fire right back and stand up for yourself but don't let it get out of hand and break the forum rules.

Moderator's note: this thread is intended for newcomers to introduce themselves, and extended discussion of the points they raise ought to be taken up by starting a new thread in an appropriate area of the site. In particular, "meta" discussions about the site, and posters' behavior on it, are probably better handed in the "Questions About MinnCentric" forum, rather than in a baseball thread.

As for care in not breaking forum rules, thanks for the lead-in, to remind posters where they are stated:

I agree with what John has said, and would add that the moderators are particularly protective of new members.

Long time lurker here and finally needed to start posting. One of my better Twins memories goes back to 1987.

Four HS buddies and I went to Dayton's in Rochester to wait in line for playoff tickets. We arrived around 7pm and the line was already over a block long. We had our sleeping bags, munchies and a cooler of pop. We chatted, played catch and took turns sleeping in the car. Not sure what time tickets went on sale, I'm guessing 9am. The line was really slow to move and we were worried that tickets would be sold out when we got inside. After nearly 3 hours we were feet from the door. Then it happened, with only 5 people in front if us, they said no more as tickets were sold out. We were crushed, but we created lifelong memories that night.

Great story and welcome to the boards! Jump in with both feet and don't be a posting stranger! :)

Welcome! I grew up down river from you a bit in Winona and know the Hwy 61 river drive quite well with countless drives between Winona and the TC.

Enjoy the boards and just jump in whenever, wherever!

If my understanding of site software is correct, if you are posting, then you are a member.

(Consult the TD Comment Policy for examples of why the reverse might not be true at times. :) )
