If Mastro is ready, he will probably join the Twins. That would leave them with one back up infielder, but Mastro has played secondbase in the minors. If there is a need, he could fill in.

I'm assuming with the Carroll trade that Escobar comes back to take his place. Then Thursday when Mastro is ready to come off the DL that either Colabello gets sent down, Justin gets traded or maybe Thomas gets DFA'd (because he doesn't have options left).

I don't think they can DFA Thomas until they are sure that Mastro is really "ready" to play every day in CF. With Cola starting to hit, do they send him to Rochester to bolster the Wings stretch run (affiliates!)?

Here's a curve- how about Romero to Third Base in Minnesota and Sano to Third in Rochester?

The roster move hasn't been made yet to replace Carroll. It looks to me like there are two possibilities--Escobar or Mastroianni--with another roster move pending (Doumit off the concussion DL). If Doumit is fully healthy, Herrmann could be demoted or Colabello or Thomas could go. Colabello or Herrmann would be a free option, while the Twins would have to DFA Clete. A move has to be made on Mastroianni by the 15th, but he could be optioned to Rochester if he hasn't started hitting.

Do we have anyone on the 40-man who can sub at 3rd for Plouffe besides Escobar? I mean, sure, we can toss Bernier over there for kicks, but anyone who's actually played 3rd?

Deibinson Romero would need to get added to the 40-man, just adding more roster juggling, so I'll be surprised if it isn't Escobar due to lack of other options.

The Twins can't just add guys to the 40-man. So we have to wait and see if more guys are sent away or not.

Mastro will replace Carroll.

Doumit will repalce Herrmann.

Ramirez will, no doubt, replace Collabaro.

The Twins still have that 13th pitcher. Roeincke is on the bubble, just because -- even though he is having a fine year -- there is no need for him in 2014. If he is claimed, he's gone. Then the Twins can bring up another bat.

Two weeks from now the Twins can expand the rosters. The return of Diamond and Hernandez and Hendriks and we'll see Tomkin. Be interesting to see if they do promote May just to give him some experience. I picture the Twins going with a 6-man rotation down the stretch, just to see more of Hendriks and if Diamond is a starter or reliever. What will be interesting is to see who advances from new Britain to help Rochester with the playoffs.

I don't see the Twins adding anyone to the 40-man from the "hot" prospects. Sadly, they will go into November just making decisions on who to keep and who to maybe resign as minor league free agents (Thomas, Ramirez, et al).

Joel, I've been thinking that Ramirez is a candidate to be DFAed as soon as his rehab is over. Assuming that Mastroianni is up to being a center fielder again, I see no point in calling Ramirez up. Further, I see no point in sending Colabello down unless the Twins are "all in" on Rochester winning the AAA championship. May hasn't really been that lousy. I guess it may be possible that he gets promoted, but more likely to Rochester. I don't think there's any thought of Diamond being anything but a starter, no matter what his problems have been so far this year.

Escobar seems to be the logical choice here. They want Mastro to hit better, so he's delayed. We need someone to play 3rd base. Actually we've needed that all year.

The Twins have Bernier to be the utility player, don't need 2. How about Deibonsin Romero to play 3B and give Pouffe a spot in the OF rotation.
