Chris Schad Verified Member Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 It was quiet everywhere and the Twins weren't alone. I was asked by B/R to write a summary saying why nothing got done for the Twins and here it is. Minnesota Twins: 5 Moves They Could (or Should) Have Made at MLB Trade Deadline | Bleacher Report In a nutshell, the Twins didn't have much to offer and had a slow trade market where nobody was willing to make moves (likely because of the unknown Biogenesis scandal. I mean...if the Rangers knew, they probably would have acquired a bat from somewhere). Obviously, I know nothing about the actual situation at the friendly confines of Target Field, but it's fun to second guess and play what-if in these situations.

old nurse Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Any player on the list other than Perkins might have netted the Twins the 30th best prospect or lower in someone's system currently playing at AAA.
old nurse Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 And yet this highly coveted bunch of players have a never yielding group of defenders for the man that is responsible for them. There are people that presents opinions, there are people who show the holes in that opinion. The opinions continue to pop up unrefined. Who is unyielding?
jay Provisional Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Thanks for sharing, Chris. Agree with your insights. I hate the slideshow game at B|R though.

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I hate the slideshow game at B|R though. Agreed 100%. Linking to "slideshow" blog posts should be a violation of Twins Daily policy. And I don't think I'm even kidding.

There are those of us who wish to show the holes in that opinion as well.Invariable it starts out somebody saying something negative about the Twins. Somebody points out the flaw in their arguement. They go round and round a couple times. Invariably they degenerate. Then there comes the complaint that the Twins are old school, don't use sabermetrics, don't inovate. Somebody asks for a definition of this line of stuff and the poster ducks it. The same argument will happen over and over
