Usually 70-80 win teams trade their expensive veterans for prospects to rebuild with younger talent.

Except that with good health we are well positioned to compete next year.  We have holes at C, 1B, maybe DH and 2 relievers so why create another hole by trading him in a year to go for it?

They’re well positioned to win about 82 games and lose in the wild card round. Is that the goal?

They have a top 5 offense and average bullpen and a top 5 rotation.  Fix the holes I listed and those get even better.  I bet a team that good wins more than 90 games next year.

Ryan for Casey Schmitt and a lottery AA pitcher.

Coming back to this, if Schmitt can be penciled in as a strong 2B on defense, his bat and his speed look good to me.

I'd be open to this idea the more I think on it. I also think a decent pitching prospect being attached wouldn't hurt either.

Top 5 rotation? Based on what?

Starting 3 of Lopez, Ryan, and Bradley followed by an improving Preliepp and Kramer.  With depth in Matthews and Rojas.

With how deep and good the 6th and 7th starters are, how can this not be a top 5 rotation in the AL next season?  Name 6 rotations that would be better in the AL?
