Putting this out there: of all the catchers to play for the Twins in A+ this year who showed good offense and defense, the top performer was Ryan Sprock.

Might depend on how quickly the cap rolls in. Yankees might not have a ton of cap room. Maybe Jeffers likes living in MN. Who knows?

Agreed that introduction of a cap or a floor could change things, but if it doesn't, it is highly comical to think that the Twins will ever set any market under the current rules

The Twins should make the QO to Jeffers.  Sure, it’s a lot of money but it’s a good alternative to making a long term offer to an aging asset.  Consider the overpay the penalty for failing to develop a reasonable alternative in a very weak developmental system.  The Twins need two more bats better or comparable to Jeffers to compete next season.  If you let him go then you need three and that’s just not going to happen given the history of this franchise.

Henry Davis is an interesting idea. Very good defense, low salary, maybe can be gotten for not much in prospect capital.

I'd be surprised if someone doesn't give Carson Kelly at least the 3/$10M contract Vazquez got from the Twins four years ago.

Former 1st overall pick.  I'd swap Lewis for him personally.

Caratini can not be the answer for us if we want to be a contender.

Resigning Jeffers is actually a decent option. He can start until one of the prospects is ready. At that point, we would have the opportunity to trade him.

I would be giving Jeffers the QO and trying to resign him. If that doesnt work, I'm checking the trade market for a starter.

The Caratini signing never did make sense.  He is in his mid 30's and hasn't consistently been a top or #1 catcher.  Houston trade for Vasquez because they didn't trust him to be the backup.  Yet the plan was for him to be the bridge.  I believe he was signed because of his positional flexibility, this is nice but can we start worrying about talent instead.  Caratini was never going to repeat his June numbers which was a career month, we have been seeing the real Caratini.

This front office needs to go so we can come up with a real plan to raise the talent level.

I would sign Jeffers if you can even if you overpay and move off of Caratini to recoup of the salary.

'A plan' ... every thread.  Cmon HK.  'A plan'

its a catcher.  Our org depth is the best it's been.  Throw Diaw and jackson back there.  What was our record pre Jeffers and post injury.
