The move that had to be made is made. This is really the only move that could reasonably be accomplished. How much do things improve with this remains to be seen. It would have been nice to be able to fall back on a third option that isn’t Brosmer

I think that depends on how you feel about Mendoza.  I just think a mid round pick is more valuable than chasing a low upside ceiling.

Cousins is currently the focal point of the whole franchise. The team did the chains bit again and they all seem to legit love the guy. If I'm running a team, a third round pick at the risk of widespread player resentment isn't worth it at all.

It really is amazing that the raiders finally have a competitive season and as a result it holds up a possible trade that would benefit the Vikings.

I think it will look more functional, but let's not forget we scored 9 points on Wentz's last start... and he has a high propensity for turning over the ball.

I hope they open up the passing game again, but honestly, that 9 point Chicago game in the rain might have been the only time in the last two years that we could sit back and say, wow, KOC actually out-coached a top tier coach.

I will be curious how this works though, because the two games Wentz, he played like he was running the Murray dink-and-dunk offense. Which sucks. Will they stick with that scheme, or let Wentz chuck it all over the field while we all hold our breath every pass? I hope it's a bit less reckless than most Wentz game plans, but not nearly as conservative as we've see so far all year.

As a Viking fan, that actually sound par for the course to me. Always wrong place, wrong time.

They did a lot of short stuff in the Browns and Steelers games last year with Wentz too. We'll see if they continue that or do the old hold the ball for too long waiting for an explosive play downfield. Well, that's been basically every QB under KOC.

I generally like Mike Florio, but when he gets on a pet topic, he will not let it go.

His new one, the Vikings should trade for Daniel Jones, is absolutely boiling my blood. Daniel Jones is bad like Kyler Murray, except Jones turns the ball over significantly more.

And even if he didn't the logic is baffling. The Vikings dumped JJ McCarthy largely because he couldn't throw the ball over the middle of the field. Then they sign Murray on the cheap, who, guess what, ALSO can't throw the ball over the middle of the field. So trade for Daniel Jones, who's maybe best known for NOT being able to throw the ball over the middle of the field?!?!? Sure, might as well give the Colts Justin Jefferson straight up for Jones because he'd still be of no use in this offense.

The earliest I’d be slightly interested in Danny Dimes again is 2028. If he follows the Aaron Rodgers/Kirko recovery path. Both of them tore their Achilles in 2023. Looked awful in 2024, still hobbled in 2025, and now both are back to slinging the ball again in 2026.

I wonder if the dink-and-dunk plans in the London games last year were related to the fact that Justin Skule and Walter Rouse and Michael Jurgens were prominently involved.  This game will be a test of that theory as I think the line is overall in a better position now than it was then

I'm actually MORE inclined to move him then.  They need them having that sort of galvanizing spirit around the QB they picked 1st overall.  Cousins being the focal point on a crappy is all the more reason to move him.

This is Joe Ryan or Ryan Jeffers and the Twins stuff here.  The Raiders might Tom Pohlad their way through this opportunity, but they shouldn't.

Unless he can start hitting slants and layer passes over the middle, I think I'm out.

In case anyone wants evidenve for why Wentz will look like a huge upgrade....

I love that stuff.

I mean, not Murray missing Jefferson being open all day long, but being able to explain QB progression and reads.

And I agree, even if Wentz is off target, he's way more likely to find the correct targets. Another very under emphasized bonus to going to Wentz; he is naturally an under-center QB, and that will help both the run game, and sell play-action.

This was really good. He is either coached wrong, or just has no situational awareness. Given he was cut in guessing it's him.

I'm happy we don't see it much here, but so many fans jump right to "KOC is a bAd pLayCallEr!" based on the offense not working.  You don't have to see much film to see his calls are running people around wide a$$ open.  Just in those few shots Warner showed there is 100 yards and a touchdown on film for JJ, his QB just sucked so bad he didn't get it to him.

And it wasn't even JJ, there are plays where we have 4-5 guys on routes and 3-4 of them are open only for our dingus of a QB to dirt the ball, throw it to the one covered guy, or run around screaming like a scared child the moment pressure comes.

I talked about it here when we signed him - I knew it was going to be bad, but this is worse than I thought.

Apparently this was his college scouting report, that he couldn't read plays. .....

Pretty easy to see why Jefferson and Addison are upset. 8 year NFL veteran can't read a defense beyond the first look...

I could see KOC pounding the table for Jones at a cheap cost, and he'd only cost $2.9M salary this year and a $500K dead cap hit to release. Not exciting given he's been crap this year, but I can see it happening.

I would rather go with Wentz than Jones.

I might rather go with Brosmer actually. I’d like KOC or another ‘QB’ guy explain how Jones is different than Murray, other than ‘he’s taller’.

The list is long of QBs I’d rather have than Danny Dimes in 2026… But I would take him over that Ravens QB last night. Woof.

Agreed if you get more of 2026 Jones. I have a feeling KOC saw what Jones was doing in 2025 and thinks he could replicate that here.

I think Jones is already replicating 2025, he just doesn't have his X receiver threat to launch deep sideline passes to. Which he was still hitting at a below average 56% completion rate by the way. Now without Alec Pierce, it's just out-breaking throws and then checkdowns, which he was doing with the Giants too. As Vikings fans, we're all done with it as far as I can tell.

I'm curious about the Packers former practice squad hero Kyle McCord though. They traded him to Green Bay South (the Dolphins) for a 6th. I'm guessing Green Bay South won't stab Green Bay North in the back by re-trading him in-division, but if they are sticking with Malik Willis (they shouldn't), I'd be curios about that guy.

I would rather see Nick Mullens’ squished face wearing a Vikings helmet again, or old man Joe Flacco over Danny Dimes

Mullens would be free (Jags practice squad), you would think the Vikings would have scooped him up after trading JJM. I imagine KOC would rather have him over Brosmer to be QB2 for the next couple games, but evidently the organization still has belief in Max for some reason. Unlike last year he had a bad preseason to pile on top of his abysmal regular season play.

They probably will do that for a 6th round pick… But all we’re doing is rearranging chairs on the Titanic.

This whole situation is so classic Vikings.

There isn't another option this year. What would you realistically like then to do?

I would rank them Kirko, Geno, Minshew, Flacco, Mullens, Dimes
