Twins Release Kyler Fedko

The Twins released OF Kyler Fedko after he was designated for assignment on September 1. Fedko made his major league debut earlier this year, playing in 14 games at the major league level. In those 14 games, he had 16 at-bats but did not get his first major league hit.

Fedko did walk twice and has one RBI to go along with eight strikeouts in 19 plate appearances. He played 75 games with Triple-A St. Paul, with a slash line of .274/.362/.545, good for a .908 OPS with 17 home runs and 10 stolen bases.

Fedko has signed a minor league deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates and will rehab his torn ACL in Bradenton, where the Pirates' Single-A team plays.

I am glad they gave him a chance at the big leagues.   Hopefully he recovers from his injury and has a long professional baseball career.

I think this makes a ton of sense for Kyler.  It was gonna be real hard to find room with the Twins and his clone Kendle is looking good right now as well.  I will miss him as I cheered him on through the levels, but I think moving on works out best for all in this case. Wishing him the best as he recovers for next year. It's a good get for the Pirates.

Good luck to him.  Even though the Twins' corner OF logjam is mainly of lefty hitters, probably he sees better opportunity in the Pirates organization.

It's crazy that PIT selected Fedco who is rehabbing. Maybe they know something that MN didn't. Wish him well.

I think they know he's got a good track record, that they need more hitters, and that he was free. It'll be a much shorter road for him to the Pirate's OF than what he was facing in MN. Best of luck to him in a tough business.

I am going to guess Fedko got a minimum contract offer from several clubs and picked the Pirates.

Obviously his brief spell in the majors wasn't successful, but man if you are another team like the Pirates and you get the chance at a dirt cheap lottery ticket like this, you couldn't ask for a ticket with much better odds. Hope he does well in his career (except against the Twins)!
