A Grand Slam... How happy is he today. Only in the lineup because Joe's wife has a poor sense of timing. 3. Think about Ryan Doumit... He wasn't hitting all that well and I told him to knock it off yesterday... He listened. 4. Think about Mike Pelfrey... He's been pitching nicely of late... If he continues doing that... We could sweep. 5. Think about addresses... I was looking for an address last night... When I got to the block and I was trying to read the house numbers for the correct address... I turned the radio down... Why did I do that?

Because you had been rocking to the sweet licks of Tommy Tutone?
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Author Posted July 24, 2013 Interesting Lineup today
Chance Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Matt Maloney has brought his 0.00 ERA to New Britian and is currently pitching. He's back!
Chance Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Maybe this lineup is the secret to creating runs. fill it full of players you would never expect to be starting in the ML and boom, offensive explosion and "swagger." It's that kind of crazy thinking that will turn this team around!
Joe A. Preusser Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Interesting Lineup today Interesting like something a hot girl just said to you on a first date? Or interesting like something weird growing on your ankle?
AROG Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Is it just me or does anyone else not get the philosophy of having Bernier play? We already have an old player that plays well defensively. If we are bringing up old players then we should have brought up Richardson and seen what he could do as a back up. I understand the Calebello move. We can show off if he has any value before the trade deadline and see if he can be a future DH until prospects come up. Any other thoughts?
Chance Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I think, next year, Bernier could assume the role that Carroll occupies currently. A veteran on the bench that can play any infield position but does not need regular playing time and is also content to just sit on the bench and not wine about playing time.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 My only thoughts are of how much it will cost Joe for lipstick down the road as those twins grow up.Will this be another Sprewell moment where Joe will demand a new contract so he can afford to buy is daughters lipstick?

I told my 2 year old last night that he needs to start working his game so that he can get one of the two.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Interesting Lineup today I was thinking that myself. This is indeed a lineup designed to strike fear into people's hearts. My knees are already trembling.

I thought that is what Escobar's role would be, is he the one whining about playing time?
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I am not expecting a win today, but am still riding the wave of last night's victory.
Chance Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Not to my knowledge, I meant in general younger players want and should be playing regularly. Sometimes that means going to AAA for some time.
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Justin struck out there but I think that it was a quality at bat because he made Weaver throw so many pitches.
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Weaver's fastball is topping out around 90 mph?
LimestoneBaggy Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 With a name like J.B. Shuck, he should be from Iowa, but alas, he is from Ohio.
B Richard Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I don't want to be overly critical, but that throw from Doumit was one of the worst throws I've ever seen from a major leaguer, let alone catcher.

Roenicke spiked a fastball about 15 ft in front of home plate in the 10th last night. That was about the worst I've ever seen.

Willihammer Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Weaver's fastball is topping out around 90 mph? That sounds about right. Weaver gets by on extreme rise with his fastball and extreme crossfire action combined with extreme extension and some pretty nasty breaking stuff too. Interesting formula, really.
James Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 It worked, didn't it? They won.Are you suggesting that particular pitch was just a clever ruse?
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Do you think Gardy put Morneu 3rd and Doumit 4th, then just pulled names out of a hat for the lineup?
AROG Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Do you think Gardy put Morneu 3rd and Doumit 4th, then just pulled names out of a hat for the lineup? Maybe for all of it but Florimon, consistent #9
James Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Do you think Gardy put Morneu 3rd and Doumit 4th, then just pulled names out of a hat for the lineup?Don't act like lineups have never been picked out of a hat. 40th anniversary: Billy Martin picks batting order out of hat
mnsports255 Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 If Colabello wants to even hit .200 in the MLB, he has to move closer to the plate. He stands so far back from the plate that he can't even reach pitches right down the middle, not to mention on the outside corner. It's ridiculous to me.
big dog Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I know Colabello is a AAA god this year, but when he bats up here he just looks like he has no chance. I'm glad he's getting a chance so we can see what he has, but right now he's sure not looking like the power RH bat we need off the bench.
big dog Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Very nice inning for Pelfrey. If, and that's a big if, he can keep improving, I hope he gives the Twins first chance at signing him for next year.
