  1. After the break, if Pino keeps proving he's adequate at the major league level, the twins will keep him up with the team in some capacity this season. Now, should we compromise the futures of May/Meyers because of him? No. But I think as long as Pino gets decent results, he could be here to stay this season. 1) Meyer and/or May could both see promotions this year with Pino still in in the starting rotation due to a Correia trade and the uncertainty surrounding Nolasco. 2) With a bullpen guy or 2 possibly dealt at the deadline (i.e. Duensing, Swarzak, Burton, Thielbar, Guerrier), Pino could easily slide into a bullpen/long reliever/spot starter role.
  2. Trevor May- 7/27/14 Alex Meyer- 9/6/14 D. Romero- 9/14/14 Eddie Rosario- 5/17/15 Miguel Sano- 5/30/15 Nick Burdi- 6/6/15 JO Berrios- 8/7/15 Byron Buxton- 8/25/15 Kennys Vargas- 9/2/15 Jake Reed- Opening Day 2016 Kohl Stewart- 7/19/16
  3. Polanco already made his MLB debut... I'm confused!
  4. Do Twins fans have reason to doubt Rick Anderson's credibility amid Vance Worley's recent comments? Do you guys think he is safe as the pitching coach beyond this season? -Thanks, as always
  5. Personally, I think Nolasco's future in the Twins rotation is in doubt. Not sure what the Twins plans with him will be, but Gardy is clearly frustrated. Coming back from his little injury, he has to show something if he has any plans of starting next year. I have a rotation of Hughes, May, Gibson, Meyer, Kyle Kendrick (Phillies FA) I also think Berrios will debut at some point next year.
  6. Whatever the deal is, we better have a more than competent coaching staff (especially pitching coach) in here by next season. With Myers, May, and Berrios close to the big leagues and Stewart a little behind, the Twins better have a good pitching coach. They can NOT screw up with those 4 guys.
  7. I know it's several years away, but what do the Twins plan on doing with Danny Santana, Jorge Polanco, Eddie Rosario, Nick Gordon, and Byron Buxton when they're all MLB ready?? We're looking at 5 top prospects/young players who are limited to SS or CF. Would they be looking to trade some of those guys, or would they try to transition a few of them to new positions? -Thanks Jeremy and Seth, looking forward to hearing what you guys think about this!
  8. Mauer kills the rally once again, and Gardy proves his late-game strategy is as bad as it gets from a manager.
  9. Why can't Gardy ever swallow his pride and make the (right) decision to bunt Mauer? Runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs, down 1 run in the late innings, and a bunt moves the guys over to 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. If you let him swing, your just asking for an inning-crippling double-play. That's the 2nd time I've seen that happen with Mauer this week. At what point does Gardy realize that no matter Mauer's track record, laying down a bunt in that situation is the SMART thing to do?
  10. Kenny's Vargas with 2 more hits tonight, plus a 2-run homer! Hitting .327, 15 HR, 57 RBI on the year at New Britain I believe.
  11. Absolutely. Between his 9-1, 1.92 ERA numbers in AAA this year and his start tonight, there's reason to believe he can keep this up. If not, no harm in a demotion. Really rooting for Yohan though. Hard not to!
  12. If Colabello wants to even hit .200 in the MLB, he has to move closer to the plate. He stands so far back from the plate that he can't even reach pitches right down the middle, not to mention on the outside corner. It's ridiculous to me.
  13. Pitchers... Correia/Hernandez: Good Pelfrey/Diamond: Bad Worley/Walters: Ugly Gibson: TBD Bullpen... Perkins/Thielbar: Great Roenicke: Good Rest: Awful
  14. Clete Thomas: He's filled in nicely I'd say. Not anything extroardinary, but solid. Mauer: Not many complaints. Maybe just his amount of strikeouts. Arcia: Young, flashes power. Needs to make more consistently good contact, and he has to take better routes and get better jumps on fly balls in the field. Willingham: I'd say he's been a huge dissapointment. He isn't clutch, or productive, and skies the ball way to often. Doumit: Absolutely terrible. Not a fan of his work at all, just like Willingham. Morneau: I really like what he's done. Not a ton of power (starting to come now), but production/average/and steady in the field. Hicks: In his time here, besides a handful of games, he hasn't shown MLB readiness. Dozier: Good in the field, besides that little 5 game power surge, not good enough in the batters box. Has to start hitting for a better average. Not sure if he's a long term solution. Florimon/Escobar: Not productive at the plate, fill-in player hopefully. Parmelee: Knows his abilities in the field and uses them well. Not a good hitter. Plouffe: When he's been here, he's hit for power, and a respectable average. I like where he is headed as a player. Maybe back at SS when Sano is in the majors?
  15. Miguel Sano, as well as he's done at FTM, has been nonexistent, and dare I say it... Awful at the plate. I don't think it's anything to worry about though. He'll figure it out.
  16. Not that it counts for much, but I'm one who has been very high on this guy for quite some time!
  17. AAA *Win 8-5 Colabello: 2-4, HR (17), 2 RBI (59), .369/.436/.664 Albers: 5 IP, ER, 6 Ks, 2.93 ERA (7-2) AA *Lost 4-3 Sano: 0-5, 3 Ks, .171/.304/.400 Rosario: 1-5, .256/.326/.308 Pinto: 2-4, RBI (50), .315/.421/.514 May: 5.2 IP, 3 ER, 5 Ks, 3.64 ERA (6-4) High-A *Win 7-5 Vargas: 1-3, RBI (58), .304/.381/.557 Jones: 1 IP, 0 ER, 2 Ks, Save (9), 1.23 ERA (Nice closer prospect) Low-A *Win 13-9 Buxton: 2-5, RBI, .341 avg (last game for CR) Kepler: 3-6, 3 RBI DJ Hicks: 2-4, 2 RBI Walker III: 2-5, HR, 2 RBI
  18. The thing I like about Arcia is how he works the count well, and has a patient, but not an overly relaxed approach at he plate. He swings at most of the stuff thrown in the zone, and rarely chases the junk. The 2nd part is pretty obvious in his power. He has immense power to all fields, and hits for average and power. Even when he gets out, he makes it a loud out. His fielding has overall been looking really solid, even if he doesn't possess top speed. Has a nice arm.
  19. Let me find out from Geno tommorrow and I'll get back to you guys on it. I'm not sure if he'll know either though.
  20. Haha, I mean track who is quickening their own paths to Minnesota with their play.
  21. AAA *Won 2-1 Chris Colabello: 2-4, HR (16), 2 RBI (57), .367 avg Deibinson Romero: 0-3, .262 avg Vance Worley: CG, 0 ER, 1 R, 2 H, 5 Ks, 3.10 ERA AA *Won 12-7 Danny Santana: 3-6, .297 avg Eddie Rosario: 3-6, 2 RBI (2), SB, .265 avg Miguel Sano: 2-6, 3B, 2 RBI (8), Error, .200 avg High-A *Won 7-1 Kennys Vargas: 2-5, RBI (57), .304 avg (promote him!) Taylor Rodgers: 6 IP, ER, 1.54 ERA (6-1 record) Low-A *Won 8-3 Byron Buxton: 2-5, 2 RBI (54), SB (32), .340 avg Dalton Hicks: 3-6, 2 RBI (67), .304 avg Travis Harrison: 3-4, 2 RBI (39), .273 avg Max Kepler: 1-5, .167 avg AB Walker: 2-5, RBI (55), .273 avg GCL Amaurys Minier: 2-3, 2 BB, .571 avg
  22. I'll try to be on the ball and keep all of us updated every night in this thread on how the notable/relevant twins prospects have been doing in each and every game at all levels... GCL through AAA. We can track who is hot and who is in line to get promoted and quicken their own paths to the bigs. *Every end-of-the-day update will be a new comment in the thread.
  23. 1st time poster, so hi everyone! Parmelee provides too much power when inserted into the lineup to send back down to AAA, (where btw he has raked consistently when there). He shows it in flashes, but he needs to be given a steady chance to prove himself as not only a HR but also a double hitter. And he's 26 I believe. He's still young, but the time is now. The fielding has been solid in addition.
