I've been a Hermann fan. He has hit in aaa his swing looks solid and has come up big in the clutch. His defense has passed my eye test. I think if we could get a pitcher or a center fielder for pinto I would love that deal. The twins are never going to use pinto properly and I want Vargas DHing full time. Not to mention we have a couple decent defensive catching prospects coming up and hitting well in the minors.

Why isn't Hermann used more as a catcher? Everytimei have watched him behind the plate he moves well and has a strong arm. Just see him having value as a catcher but he just doesn't hit enough to be a corner outfielder.

The guy hasnt missed a beat going from single A to AA. He is hitting .320 with with 12 HR's and 51 RBI's. Any chance he is called up to AAA this season or even a september call up?

After watching florimon this spring and thus far into the season he can't hit. Worse is he can't even move runners putting the ball in play or bunting. His defense is nice but you can't have a guy who hits below .200. My guess is that Nunez is organizational depth and a hope that they can find a bench utility role for him to replace Escobar when he takes over at SS.

You have an emergency catcher. He won a few gold gloves and a silver slugger last season as a catcher. If the highly unlikely chance that pinto pinch hit late in a game and after that Suzuki got hurt. Mauer as a team leader should tell gardy I'm going in behind the plate to finish the game. Put someone else in to play 1b.

I'm guessing this means florimon is heading north and is ready for opening day. Looks like the season in CF is hicks whether he plays well or not. Outfield defense is going to hamper us all season. Offensively we have no speed and no power and our corner infielders and outfields are terrible defensively.

I think we have but developing pitchers doesn't happen over night. Look at are farm systems. The guys we have drafted and signed internationally in the last 2 seasons have been of a different breed. Hopefully the control and throwing strikes doesn't change but a better job of mixing pitches with guys who can miss bats.

Watching the game today against a full cardinal lineup today and wow does Kyle Gibson look good! Reminds me a lot of nick Blackburn in his hay days. A guy who's sinker is hard and sharp when down in the zone. The difference is that Gibson throws slightly harder and has a good slider to go with that sinker. Im in not saying send Gibson north but I really think 2014 is going to be a big yr for Gibson and he should be the first option when a starter goes down and or a starter struggles. Seen enough of diamond and Worley time to look at Gibson May and Meyer as the starting options to come up when guys struggle or go down with injury.

Worley is terrible give me either Guarra or Tomkin in the bullpen. No way they go north without Alex Presley. Even though he has had a terrible spring you need a guy who can play all 3 outfield positions and give you speed off the bench. The only way Bartlett goes north is if Florimon cant go to open the season. If it was me Id say sorry Kubel but Colabello out played you all spring and offers as much or more then you at this point. You can go play at Rochester and well give you a call later if we need you.

Agreed you don't need a true power hitter In the corner outfield. Speed and defense effect every game. Not to mention he has shown he has some power both gap power and hitting it over the wall.

Would love to see hicks show he is as good as advertised this yr put together a successful season. You put hicks and buxton in the outfield together and the defense gets leaps and bounds better. I actually think Arica turns into the DH and they find another outfielder. Either way I like any outfield where hicks and buxton are playing and productive.

I don't like what I see in Kubel thus far and would like to get parmelee another shot. Arcia has nothing more to prove in AAA and would hurt his development to send him there. An interesting question would be if florimon is not ready for opening day.

Like to see Arcia taking more walks and an on base off .355 is good for him. I don't like florimon it's tough to only hit .210 he has never hit at any level I don't see a chance for a change with him. Escobar hit .250 with a surprising power display. I hope he is the starting SS. He is as good defensively and seems to have a better upside offensively. Meyer looks like he is legit with more Ks then IP and a low 3 era.
