We got too many MLB-ready corner OF's
We lack bullpen depth (unless we convert SP's to the pen, which isn't a good idea for Zebby/Abel)

So I think Larnach ought to go...

How about:
Larnach to SEA for RP Carlos Vargas and RP Robinson Ortiz

Power arms with good stuff and K-rates, etc. Vargas can be electric. For Seattle, Larnach would be an excellent match with Victor Robles to split time. If anything, the player value says we come out a bit behind, but Larnach costs more too. Would like to see us do even better, but this would be tempting from the Twins point of view.

Any other ideas?? Or hold him??

I’m all for getting value for Larnach now. I think he actually could still carve out another 3ish years in mlb. I just don’t think he is the right fit for the Twins in 2026 in their outfield.

If they could flip him for a current reliever, great. Otherwise if it is someone who won’t be ready until 2028 but they see something, then I’m good with that too.

Seattle makes sense. Houston too. Probably another 7-8 teams also make sense.

Basically I wish him well

Is Alex Verdugo the only viable left handed batting free agent outfielder? Comforto just signed. Winker is probably a DH though maybe that can be said about  Larnach too.

Seattle and Houston have a need. They might be waiting out Winker and Verdugo for the best possible deal. Would Larnach be a significant enough upgrade over Verdugo or Winker offensively and defensively to give up assets?

Baseball Trade Values has Larnach at +2 last I checked. That's enough for a 10-15 prospect somewhere. Larnach is an MLB average or better hitter and that doesn't honestly grow on trees. He's a better player than Josh Bell who we paid $7MM for (another bone-headed contract).

I would so much rather trade Bell and $2MM for a PTBNL than Larnach for a 10-15 org prospect.

The real problem is finding a suitor. Right now, there aren't any. Larnach isn't a black hole so he'll appeal to a team with a strong need in the outfield and a little (not a lot) of spending power. Maybe the Rays... but the absurdly cheap-skate (heh, pun) Rays won't eat $5MM so the Twins would have to aim a bit higher in a middle prospect and probably toss $2MM in or something.
