Fans diss Purdy too much. He could legit win the super bowl.

This opens up the question… what’s the total # of QBs who could legit win a Super Bowl? I’d say maybe 5 or 6 in the whole league. An all-time defense could carry anyone to the trophy as Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson can attest. I’m talking about if there was a Madden fantasy draft and you’re picking your team from scratch.

I disagree a bit with you and Nick on the thought that some QBs are special and can win and others can't. I think in right situation, Cousins could have won a super bowl while others thought he was the perfect example of a guy who couldn't. That said, I think all of these QBs could, if healthy and in the right circumstance, lead (not tag along) a good NFL team - not the 2000 Ravens - to a super bowl (in absolutely no particular order):

Allen, Burrow, Prescott, Stafford, Mahomes, Maye, Darnold, Hurts, Mayfield, Herbert, Love, Purdy, Stroud, Jackson. That's 14 and doesn't include Goff, Daniels, Lawrence, and Nix.

I agree on Allen, Burrow, Stafford, Mahomes, Maye, Hurts, Jackson and Herbert.  And I put Hurts at the bottom of that list as basically the peak form of game manager.

Prescott is a good QB, but something just doesn't add up with him.

Darnold is going to prove the Vikings right this postseason.  Hell, he tried to against the Panthers but they're a 5 win team playing above their weight class.

Mayfield has had a really troubling stretch.  I like him (advocated trading Cousins for him here back in the day!) but things have gone badly for him.

Love?  Please.  I thank the football gods every day that the Packers hitched their wagon there.

Purdy?  Don't let a god awful Bears defense fool you.  Yes, his play caller is elite but he's not that guy.  He's even proven that.

Stroud?  Might be.  He's coming around.  Dude needs some help.

Daniels is too scrawny.  Love the talent, he won't hold up in the league IMO.

Lawrence....who the F is this guy?  Some weeks he looks like the worst QB contract ever.  Others like the second coming of Josh Allen.  I don't know what to think of him.

Nix - watch him get toasted in the playoffs.

Goff - I think McVay trading him said everything you need to know.

So yeah...I'm with @Vanimal46 - handful of SB caliber guys.

And even if he does get a ring, the Vikings did the right thing.

This is the coping mechanism I read over and over again. Why is that the right thing? This season has proven it was not the right thing. We used the savings on 2 DTs that weren’t any better than what we had on roster. Darnold is in a position to once again finish a 1 seed in the final week of the season. Top 5 in passing yards and passing TDs. McCarthy can’t even stay on the field…

I'd also rather have Darnold with McCarthy as the backup.

Problem is that even your backup his to be healthy.

Rams were so close to wrapping up the division in Seattle. This is a bit of a collapse, barring a comeback
