Kyle Gibson

Orioles have released Kyle Gibson. I see this as a sad nostalgic event. I remember working with a fellow employee who was a giant pain in the butt and wish he could be replaced. The boss reminded me that as much as we might like to get rid of him, "He was all ours". That is how I feel about KG and wish him the best with what ever life has to offer him in the future,

Gibson is a class guy. I always thought he was a bit of a victim of expectations. He looked like a potential steal when drafted. And the SP for the Twins was rather bleak at the time. He just wasn't a front end starter. But he had a pretty solid career overall.

I heard Glen Perkins do an interview with Gibson and it was obvious Gibson was a favorite teammate of Perkins.

My brother and I chatted with Gibby in spring training about a decade ago and he seems to be a real good guy and I’ve been a fan since.

Not too long ago the Twins might have picked up Gibson now as a possible fifth starter.

I always thought it was Dr Gibson and Mr. Kyle.  On his good days, he was a top tier pitcher.   But then there would be bad days.    Nevertheless, he was good enough to have a long MLB career.   Still, my expectations for Kyle Gibson were for him to be a top ten starting pitcher in baseball for at least four seasons.

I've heard a local (Fargo area so really local) sports reporter say that Gibby was such a good guy off the field.

Yeah, if you ask Leo Durocher nice guys finish last, but nice guys get appreciated more

Gibby and his wife always did volunteer work, often in the Caribbean -- DR and Haiti. Absolutely commendable in addition to all his charity work in the States.

On the mound? I remember moving to The Cities and how his nibbling just annoyed the dickens out me. Still followed his career post-Twins just because I respected the heck out of him.

He is doing a podcast with Lance Lynn now, whom I never cared much for.
