gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 Way off topic. Very bored. Anyone old enough to remember this song? Musk21, nicksaviking and RpR 2 1
RpR Verified Member Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 Yes I remember it including the video.

Musk21 Community Moderator Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Wow, that's a forgotten one-hit wonder. What a time....Loved sitting down at my grandparent's house (who actually had cable TV!) and watching MTV videos for hours. gunnarthor and nicksaviking 2
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 I remember the song, but wow, for all the 80's videos I binged on, I don't remember that one. Funny how most of those 1980's 'super groups' made up of members from more famous bands ended up being one hit wonders.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 OK, I want to play. Here's a 'super group' but they actually had a few I remember, including this absolute bonkers video about......a dad getting abducted by aliens? Maybe? gunnarthor and Musk21 1 1

I did a youtube music quiz a month or so again and this was one of the songs they played. I couldn't place it but was like, "Oh, yeah, I remember that!" Then I went to watch the video and finally actually listened to the lyrics and ... wow. Just nuts. But a great tune. nicksaviking and Musk21 2

Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 I've posted this a few other places... Lionel Richie's "Hello"... Great Song!! Incredibly Creepy Video!! gunnarthor and nicksaviking 2
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 One of my favorite '80s singers, 20ish years later, and I think this appearance is fun. Billy Ocean... Suddenly... Love this song! nicksaviking 1
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 My favorite song from the '80s... Glenn Medeiros ... Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You... I liked it because he was only a couple of years older than me, but he was able to hit low and high notes and transition so well. Of course, if you're on Tik Tok, you may follow his daughter, Lyric. She was also on American Idol. She's usually on with her mom, but her dad is now on quite a bit. He's something like a principal at a school in Hawaii now. nicksaviking 1
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 I LOVE '80s music!! (and early '90s) I often point out that 1986 is the greatest year in music history... 1987 too... but I would guess that most people's favorite era is their age 10-12 range. gunnarthor 1
RpR Verified Member Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 I watched very few videos, but this one was one of the few good ones, it told a story without some dude on the screen singing. nicksaviking 1

Incredibly Creepy Video!! Yeah, this was amongst a great run of 80's stalker songs! Unlike The Police, who's song was supposed to be stalker-y but mistaken for romantic, I'm pretty sure this one was the other way around. At least the video was.

George got a raw deal. Super talented and from the sounds of it an extremely generous guy who didn't want publicity for his charity. Crazy how terrible we were back then that he couldn't just be himself back without ridicule and awful jokes. Seth Stohs and RpR 2

The arrest wasn't good, but yes, he definitely was the brunt of jokes that were accepted at that time as OK... no longer.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2024 Author Posted January 16, 2024 While A Momentary Lapse of Reason wasn't Pink Floyd's greatest album, it did have some solid songs, including Learning to Fly. nicksaviking 1

gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2025 Author Posted February 6, 2025 I always think of this as an early 80s new wave song but it actually came out in 1989/1990. nicksaviking 1
