The draft is officially 6 days away and the Twins front office is busy working on their draft board. Who will they take? How the hell would I know? I can guess and so can you!

In the upcoming draft the Twins will have the following picks at these specific pick values:

#4 - $4,544,400

#43 - $1,294,100

#78 - $703,000

#110 - $468,200

#140 - $350,500

#170 - $262,500

#200 - $196,600

#230 - $158,600

#260 - $148,100

#290 - $138,400

Total - $8,264,400

This isn't a post about who YOU want the Twins to take or who YOU would be disappointed with if they took. This isn't a post about YOUR preference of Need vs BPA. This isn't a post about how YOU hope the Astros take Moran. This isn't a post for debating experts draft boards, or experts mocks, or if Lady Gaga is actually a dude. Lord knows we have enough of these already.

This is a post about who YOU think will be drafted and where, Twins pick or not. Choose one name and stick with it. The challenge is to have the balls, chesticles for you ladies, to post your guesses. Make a guess and claim it. Put a ring on it. Mark your territory by peeing on it. Or whatever.

Why? Well, while drafts are exciting to talk about in reality they are really boring to watch. Just like betting on nipple slips during the Super Bowl or when Ryan Seacrest is finally going to lose it and choke an idol to death, they help make it more entertaining.

Educated or not, no one has a freaking idea how the draft is going to play out so why not have a little fun?

3. Bryant

4. Stewart

5. Moran

OK. Here's the predictions:

1. Moran - I do think they do this now

2. Appel - Perfect spot for him

3. Bryant - Colorado seems to love him but if they take Gray than Twins take Bryant

4. Gray -

5. Frazier - reach pick? but I think they like him over Stanek or Shipley

6. Shipley - Everyone seems to think Miami has a deal in place here already

7. Stewart - Red Sox should be delighted to get him

8. Ball - Not sure where Ball goes but this seems about right. Too bad it's KC.

9. McGuire - Could be Meadows, too but Pitt has been on him a lot

10.Stanek - He's falling too much. Toronto gets a nice pick.

43 - Ziomek or AK reliever Suggs.

As a Twins fan I hope you are right about Gray. As a betting man challenge accepted.

You can guess any picks! Those were just the first ones I did. I plan to do a few other picks in round one and try to guess the Twins top 5 picks. I just need to do a little more research.

By the way, nice pick of Reed at 43. I was thinking about him at 43 before I picked Boldt.

Posted

1. Jonathan Gray (one can hope)

43... Sean Manaea (sadly quite possible now, no idea if he'd sign)

78. Brian Navaretto

110. Carlos Salazar

With the exception of something like Gray falling or Manaea being there in round 2, I hope the Twins stock up on high upside highschoolers.

1. Bryant- Think they are posturing right now and get a nice deal

2. Appel

3. Gray

4. Stewart- A lot depends on the Astros pick right now.

5. Moran

6. Ball

7. Shipley

8. McGuire

9. Stanek

10. Frazier

bonus- Manaea to the Astros in their 2nd round pick. Put the money saved with Bryant into a verbal agreement before the draft. They could make out like bandits if this happens.

43. I'm going Boldt too. Think he's falling and the Twins will scoop him up with a nice offer.

Stewart/Boldt, good combo! Hopefully we are right. As a current Houstonian if the Astros get Bryant/Manaea people would freak out. Bold guess. I like it!

I'm really just guessing here. I don't think I've seen this as a possibility anywhere, and I'm not sure why. Seems like drafts never go according to how everyone thinks they will so I went with a different angle.

Adding a few more Twins guesses.

#78- Andrew Mitchell (TCU)- while both Law/BA have him in their top 50 I just have a gut feeling he will fall. After the Twins draft last year he screams their type. Bard clone.

#110- Dace Kime (Louisville)- just like Mitchell above he was mostly a relief pitcher in college but when he started he looked solid.

#140- DJ Snelten (Minnesota)- Big lefty local kid who could move fasdt as a relief pitcher or try to develop a third pitch and be a starter.

#170- Brian Navarreto (Arlington County Day HS)- Twins brass said they will take a catcher and here is their guy.

I'm really starting to turn away from my pick of Boldt at 43 and might change it before the draft.

200th pick Luis Guillermo

Twins pick catcher Reece at 4 to save money and with the extra money they draft Mannaea at 43.

Our first McGuire guess. If this happens I think a lot of people would be excited with this 1-2 combo.

The real question is who will they take at #290...

Posted

Okay... Let's play...

Pick 4 will be Kohl Stewart who will sign for somewhere between 200 K Below slot to 50K Over slot. The drama around Twins Daily will be that one of the top 3 (Appel, Byrant, Gray) falls to the Twins after the Astros or Rockies pick Moran. Over the next few years Stewart will be unfair compared to the player the Twins passed on, because he's 3 years behind the others in development time.

Pick 43 Will be Tom Windle. Windle will be an easy sign and a low floor pick. A safe pick to go with the "riskier" Stewart, but a pick they can save a little cash with for signings later on. Hunter Green and most the top end catchers will be off the board but the Twins pass on Ryan Boldt... much to fans dismay.

Pick 78 will be shortstop Jan Hernandez from Puerto Rico. After passing on "Better" talent with the first two picks., Fans will be happy they took the best player on the board... though the "when does he move off short" comments start the day he signs..... or sooner ;).

After that a lot of pitching (Maybe Jason Hoppe on Day 3) and a catcher in the first 8 rounds. Followed by an agressive spending spree on the International market in July on postion players. Lets see how close I get....

At #4 I'm going with Stewart. There is some uncertainty regarding the top 3 and the Astros but a betting man would guess that they go 1, 2, and 3 as expected.

At #43 I will randomly throw out a name like Kyle Serrano. He's a reasonable target but he may or may not be there and there could be a half dozen guys that make sense for the Twins when they pick. I think they will try to go with a pitcher if the talent is available but throughout the draft I can see them picking intriguing guys even if they don't need them (Walker last year for example).

I would love Serrano at #43. A personal favorite from the draft.

I'm not dissing anyone's prognosticating but I'd be pretty upset with that combo actually. I'd much rather have one of the top 4 players than McGuire. I don't think Manaea will be there at 43 either and his performance this year doesn't get me nearly as excited as the top three pitchers.

A lot of people are picking Windle, I assume it's because he's a hometown boy?

A lot of us have been critical of the Twins drafting low ceiling pitchers in the past, me included but that seems to have changed in the last couple years, particularly in the compensation and 2nd rounds. I don't think Windle is the choice due to this recent trend. I think they would go after someone with more electric stuff even if they are less polished.

"Safe" low floor pitchers usually fit into the back of the first round ala Wimmers, Gilmartin, Leake, or Johnson last year so getting him at #43 fits talent wise. There are about 6 other pitchers that fit this build in this draft so I'm guessing the reason people are picking Windle over the others is the MN connection. While I agree last year the Twins loaded up on higher velocity arms they love athletic pitchers, which Windle is. Add in he is LHP and I see the fit. Personally I prefer more upside.

Serrano looks like an absolute stud. Obviously it's tough to predict, but do we really think he'll be around at #43?

He has some signabilty concerns so he could definitely fall. Questions is could the Twins find the money to sign him. As they showed last year with JO they have no problem drafting a "short" pitcher.

Guessing the two MN kids I don't have the Twins taking.

Chris Anderson to the Cardinals at 28 and Windle to the Royals at 34. Guessing my personal favorite Kyle Serrano to the Astro's at 40 with an over slot deal. Bam!

1) Frazier

2) Gray

3) Bryant

4) Appel

43) Oscar Mercado

I think the Astros are going to go way underslot just like last year. They are pretty void of OF prospects right now too. I think they'll take either Frazier or Meadows.
