Apparently, felt like they needed to go under slot at 49.

”hit over power” should sound good to those that have had it up to hear with K’s this season.

.700+ SLG last season and 48 SBs in his last 112 college games along with only 62 K's.

Yeah I bet you are right. Might not be a ton of savings as he went not too far from where Law had him but that might play into it.

Maybe not a player I would have chosen but I don't hate the profile. And after the great first two picks I am not too upset with drafting a slightly less exciting college bat. Who knows, maybe he's really good.

I don't know what the park factors are like in the Pac 12 (and Arizona specifically), but he had a SLG% of .725 and HR/PA rate over 7% this year.

Hit for some power with wood bats in the Cape last year too.

Not someone who was on my radar, but it doesn't necessarily seem like he's without power, and it sounds like he could at least handle 2B or 3B, so not necessarily a bat only pick either.

Or even at slot. The top remaining HS pitchers are going to be tough signs down here.

55/60 runner too so it sounds like he could shift to the outfield. I would guess he's groomed as kind of a utility type guy in the Farmer/Gordon/Marwin role. Ideal if he can stick at 2B and also play backup CF at a minimum with games at first. I don't mind having a guy like that with a good hit tool and some speed.

Agreed…what I’ve read, he doesn’t project to be a power guy based on approach and swing. Lots of hits, extra base hits and a high SLG would be expected of top 100 guys at the college levels regardless of HR power. His profile is more hits and XBH than HR and K’s. Something the current Twins lineup could use more of.

If only Martin’s hit tool would kick in more, yes.

Go read his draft profile......he's been hurt the whole time he's been in MN. He wasn't taken that early in the draft and put in the upper minors for no reason.
