I think Zimmer was more of a shelf life coach, he was doing a great job and the players loved him 2014-2017, but it was around the signing of Kirk that Zimmer got grumpier and grated on the players more, until he became unbearable. There were red flags in that good stretch (2016 stands out with Zimmer undermining Norv Turner, which we now know during that point he was consulting with Hue Jackson of all people for advice on offense). The real blunder was extending him and Spielman after thinking the 2019 was something worth celebrating, while trouble was clearly brewing in the background.

He did turn around what was a pretty awful team in short order. Also had to deal with playing at TCF and losing his quarterback a week before the season started. Also should have won a playoff game if not for a missed extra point of a field goal. Ever since halftime of the saints miracle game, his defenses (and apparently him in general) were bad. That seemed to be the turning point. He should have welcomed Kirk with open arms since he was an upgrade over guys like teddy and Sam Bradford. But of course there was a money impact from Kirk. Obviously handled it terribly

He absolutely refused to play rookies. Jefferson only get on the field due to injuries. Zimmer was a good "turn around our pretty good team" coach, nothing more (as a HC, I still think he knows D).

SF just keeps on keepin on. If they close out this game and the Vikings lose Saturday, SF will have the tiebreaker for the 2 seed. Better conference record

I can’t imagine the Vikings ever having a defense as good as the one SF has right now

Maybe don't play your best player out of position? That might help.

Don’t they have a 49ers daily site where you can profess your love an admiration for them

NFL puts games on Saturday to take advantage of the lack of college games, then puts all the games on NFL network which I don’t receive

Lol, sorry, I’m not a 49ers fan, not even a little bit

Me neither and yes I have been drooling over them a bit as I think they’ll be in the NFCCG (at minimum). Just wish our guys would go out and dominate a team once in a while. Today would be a good day for that against a weaker opponent.

Salary caps make it tough to have a good offense and defense. The 49ers are the only team I’ve ever seen get even better every time they lose a quarterback.

They should win by at least 9 today

Awfully bold considering we’ve won by more than one score exactly once all year

Remember its only yards.  They dont count.

And when you allow a kickoff return to midfield, the yardage allowed ain’t so bad!
