Blackjack Provisional Member Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Does he still have a 1/2 hour Sunday radio show? What time? In past years, I've been able to listen to him one hour before the game, then the pre-game for 1/2 hour, then the game, this year haven't been able to tune him in... This timetable seemed to work whether it was an early East coast game, a home game, or a late West coast game. I like hearing what he has to say, he always gives some tidbits about players in the minors, injuries, etc. In a side note, I AM able to catch Ron Gardenhire at 9:30, then I turn it over to Sid.
drjim Provisional Member Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Saturday 9am on 1500ESPN. Hour Inside Twins show. He is usually the first interview.
Don't Feed the Greed Guy Verified Member Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 TR is also on with Sid and Dave, almost every Sunday morning. He was pretty blunt about Plouffe's failures in the field, which the club can excuse if he's hitting, but he's not. So, he's on the bench.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Doesn't seem to be much in the way of Twins talk on K-Twin. They get Coomer on, but talk about so many non-Twins subjects, he might as well become a DJ there.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Did anyone expect KTWN really change format? I caught part of the Ryan show this weekend, while I don't agree with a lot of what he says about defense, he's 100x better to listen to than Spielman* *Ryan actually says stuff, even if you disagree with is, he says stuff. Spielman doesn't say anything.
fairweather Provisional Member Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Terry Ryan could talk all day and say nothing. I find platitudes and cliches sickening.
Blackjack Provisional Member Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Saturday 9am on 1500ESPN. Hour Inside Twins show. He is usually the first interview. Is this a Twins network show or just a talk show that has Terry Ryan on it?? I know that I won't be able to catch 1500 out here in the outstate.
Blackjack Provisional Member Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 TR is also on with Sid and Dave' date=' [u']almost every Sunday morning.[/u] Thats the problem, you don't know if or when he'll be on. Hate to say it, but I sometimes get busy and don't pay regular attention to Sid. When he had a regular Sunday show the last couple of years, you could count on him or Rob Anthony being on.
Blackjack Provisional Member Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Terry Ryan could talk all day and say nothing. I find platitudes and cliches sickening. Simple solution, click your radio off. I like listening to Terry, he's not going to tell you about trades, but you can find out about injuries and what he thinks about players and how they're doing.

They get Coomer on, but talk about so many non-Twins subjects, he might as well become a DJ there. Actually, techincally speaking Coomer IS a DJ there. He is employed as a regular member of the afternoon show, not as a baseball commentator. It actually is fairly deliberate that the twins talk shows aren't on KTWN. By keeping the talk shows on 1500 AM, they keep their relationship with 1500, and maintain access to the "sports talk" demographic, while broadcasting the games on KTWN with it's music format allows them to reach the demographic of people who think of sports talk simply as "what my dad listens to". That also means that they can sell ad space around the games to BOTH demographics.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 but I sometimes get busy and don't pay regular attention to Sid. As a general rule of thumb, you are better off.

I know that I won't be able to catch 1500 out here in the outstate. 1500 is the official home of "Twins talk" which means they get the set guests and shows. They have the hour show Sat morning and the guest is usually Ryan but also other FO people on occasion.
matthew0211 Verified Member Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Here in Fargo, and I think this would be true for many stations on the TIBN, the "Inside Twins" show with Mackey is re-aired on Saturdays 90 minutes before the first pitch of the game that day.

Thanks, thats what I was looking for, as when does the show come on. Will have to try and tune into the Mighty 790 on Sat. Did some internet searches on 'Inside Twins' and came up with this. 1500 ESPN Kicks Off 2013 Twins Season with the Ron Gardenhire Show on Sunday, March 31 | twinsbaseball.com: News It says that the Inside Twins show has been expanded to an hour in 2013 and comes on from 9-10 on Saturdays.
jctwins Verified Member Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Listening to pre and post game on KTWN sounds like listening to state run radio. It is really bad when the team owns the radio broadcast. They refuse to say anything even mildly negative.

Contrary to this board most casual fans don't tune into a Twins game for negative coverage. If that is what they get they'll turn the station.

Who's struggling, why, and who is just plain getting it wrong (or right). That's what I expect.
