Rockcats Roster?

Anybody have the New Britain roster for this year?

Their website says the team has been set, but they don't list the players! You have to go to their facebook page, and I don't have (and don't want) a facebook account.

NB might have gotten most of the pitching but they missed on every interesting hitting prospect. At least until midseason (hopefully).

Unless Dean gets his act together, that starting rotation is bleak after Meyer and May.

Can't understand filler in the OF instead of pushing Morales in a big make or break season for him. Some of the better OF have struggled some at Fort Myers while taking off at NB. Beresford, Santana, and Hanson make up 3/4 of the infield and then more filler. Daniel Ortiz is the guy to watch here.

Isn't Lanigan done as a starter? He didn't start a single game in 2012. I would imagine Nate Roberts would have to start in NB...

Yes, though, he is in trouble maintaining as a reliever. But I actually have to wonder if he isn't going to be starting given that DL list. Popham and Martin (?) are options for those two spots, true.

Oops, didn't look at the DL. Hermsen and Hauser (as SP?) make the starting rotation pretty strong. Darnell and Lanigan are on last legs.

And Wimmers?

Of the 26? on the NB roster list, I see 5 guys that could fast track to AAA with breakout springs and/or organizational needs (Meyer, May, Pinto, Santana, Ortiz) and at least another 10 should be looking over their shoulders--- over at the DL- down at Ft Myers- and up at Roc.- for someone about to take their jobs away.

3 MLB Twins pitchers on the DL, 10 at Rochester and 5 at New Britain. Although it seems high, how much out of the ordinary is this number?

Tonkin could also be a quick call to the majors. I have to say, for an organization big on OF prospects, this doesn't seem to be a great OF at AA.

Good call, my miss. If Thielbar can move up 3 steps in one season, Tonkin with much better stuff certainly can, too.

Looks like dry wells everywhere in the OF at both AA and A+, mostly placeholders until the Cedar Rapids crew is ready to move up.

I'm not sure if it's been written elsewhere but I'm honestly a little surprised that Meyer is starting at AA. He only had 7 starts at high A last year. I thought the Twins would keep Ft Myers for a handful of starts until the weather got better in NB. It's a nice surprise though.

Yeah, but I don't know when he will be back.

My guess is he'll start a throwing program in August and maybe ready for some relief work in the fall instructional league.

I would say that number is higher than ordinary. Especially in Rochester... but having extra arms - they're not all actually injured - is never a bad thing.

Thanks, I was thinking that the Twins might just be extending their "quantity over quality" strategy into the minor leagues and regular season, but I wasn't sure, given all the recent pitcher health issues.

Gotta think this is a reflection of the Ryan master plan. We might see some timetable acceleration and 2-step-in-a-year promotions organization-wide in preparation for the "new-look" Twins of 2014. Maybe this New Britain OF and MI will be completely turned over by sometime in July?

Interesting. I count only seven promotions on the roster (including Meyer). The rest are either repeating AA or were demoted from AAA. Surprised with Lehmann (but with Butera in AAA, not that much.) He is easily the best defensive C in the organization and maybe they wanted him to work with May and Meyer.

Per Terry Ryan--Wimmers is on the same program that Gibson was last year.

Meaning the Twins are hoping he can throw in a few GCL games by mid-July. If Wimmers can pitch 20 innings and be healthy enough to go to pitch in the Winter League like Gibson - then that's a huge victory for the organization.
