This streak is ridiculous. How long can it continue, and does this mean they are more or less viable in the post season than previously thought?

Fangraphs has an article showing that it doesn't matter if you are Hot or Not going into the post season.....if you are into looking at numbers and facts and history and stuff....

Yup, and you can say it with me folks, the playoffs are nothing but a series of tyrannical small samples that eat baseball logic alive.

There really should be a Long season champion, and a short season champion. With all new schedules, divisions, and short season schedules.....but that ain't' coming....

Ridiculous.... maybe, maybe not.  But I will say this, I've thought all along that the Red Birds were a much better team after picking up Arenado.  Now if Flaherty and Hudson can stay healthy after returning, this team may surprise in the post season.  Especially with Wainwright pitching the way he has been.

The Redbirds were a 500 team and 7.0 games behind the second wild card team at the trade deadline.

In an effort to get pitching and salvage their season, they traded for a couple of struggling veteran lefthanders from other organizations who they thought might rebound in a new environment and give them some innings while Mikolas and Flaherty rehabbed from injury.  

The NL wild card game is a week from Wednesday.

Now 17. Just keeping my thread alive. They clinched a playoff spot last night. Pretty funny watching them stack up on the pitchers mound for a team photo after the game, which looked more like a high school victory than an MLB playoff ticket.

The champagne party looked pretty half hearted, too. Maybe that routine is finally getting closer to running its course. Staging one of those after every achievement through the playoffs has gone way out of hand.
