On Wednesday, Cleveland's' Shane Bieber was named the unanimous winner of the 2020 AL Cy Young Award. The Twins Kenta Maeda finished second in voting. He received 18 second place votes and finished just ahead of Hyun-Jin Ryu.

The last Twins pitcher to finish that high in the AL Cy Young vote was when Johan Santana won the award in 2006.

Others to receive votes: Lance Lynn finished sixth. Liam Hendriks finished 10th.

Congrats to Maeda! But personally, I can't get too excited or give to much credence to the awards this year for a 60 game season.

The man had ZERO bad games for us in 2020. Not even any so-so ones. Always finished at least 5 innings; gave up as many as 6 hits only once; never gave up 4 runs. He came with his best stuff each and every time. Bieber was even better, but this was a hell of a (short) season for Maeda, and no other Cy contender in the AL came close to this combination of dominance and consistency.
