They wanted to know if I had a good time at Target Field this year.

At first, I thought they were going to ask me if I knew of any cheap starting pitchers.

I might have thought they were going to ask if you ARE a cheap starting pitcher.

I would have answered, "Except for the fact that the Twins lost every time I attended and the concessions were way overpriced, yeah it was an all right time."

I would have told them that you did not have a good time because as a true baseball fan, you are more interested in the quality of the players on the field than you were with the quality of the taco-in-a-waffle-cone.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Cubs have agreed to a deal with Carlos Villanueva.

Terms of the deal are not yet known, but, assuming it's not too out of line, it's another sneaky addition to the rotation by the Cubs. Villanueva was shifted back and forth from starter to reliever the last two seasons by the Blue Jays, but he pitched really well out of the rotation in 2012 before a couple late-season blowups inflated his ERA. All told, he put up a 4.16 ERA and 112/46 K/BB ratio over 125 1/3 innings this past season.

Well, that pretty much leaves two kinds of free agent starters... the expensive kind the Twins won't sign, and the crappy kind they shouldn't sign.

I got a call from the Twins front office today:

... they asked if I can throw strikes and battle.

... they were wondering if I knew the number of Mark Prior.

... they asked how I felt about their slogan in 2013: "Hey, we're a professional baseball team ya know."

... they asked a multiple choice question. When a pitcher's elbow is sore would I a) get it checked by a specialist, then rest and rehab B) rest and rehab c) get an MRI followed by rest and rehab d) ice it with rest and rehab before the next start

Tom Goz also signed for 2 years and 6 million. All that is left is Myers/Padilla, Saunders, Marcum maybe, Liriano/Pavano and Slowey. Could see a starting rotation of Liriano/Pavano/Slowey/Correia/Worley/Diamond with Blackburn in the wings. Should begood for 40 or so wins.,
