ERA doesn't account for inherited runners scoring, which is a more telling stat for a reliever

 

FIP hasn't been above 3 the past three years; including this year. Dude is a solid reliever. Stats back it up. He's having a rough season, but all in all has pitched less than 20 innings.

 

Now, should he be used in high leverage situations in the playoffs? I don't know. Maybe against a lefty, but has a ways to go to earn the right to pitch to multiple righties.
