Game Thread: Twins vs. White Sox 4:40 PM PST (6:40PM CST)

I started typing this thread and, through the magic of hitting the wrong keys, managed to lose everything I'd written.

My loss is probably Twins Faithful gain.

The Twins, after taking two from Cleveland in Cleveland suddenly seemed to remember they were guests and promptly gave back a game. I'm not sure where Miss Manners comes down when it comes to sports etiquette but it seems to me that, in pro sports, guest or not, sweeping the leg is called for.

Now the Twins return home and the lineup is slowly returning to health and starting to contribute that which we've missed these last few games.

On paper, this looks to be a mismatch. However, the game is not decided on paper so, let's hope the Twins get the job done against the White Sox.

With that, some things to argue, I mean, flame each other, I mean, discuss politely over tea and crumpets with pinky finger properly extended.

1. Crescent Rolls or Croissants?

2. Earl Grey or Jasmine?

3. Caribou or Starbucks?

4. Popover or Muffins?

Jose Berrios ®

1. Luis Arraez (L) 2B
2. Jorge Polanco (S) SS
3. Nelson Cruz ® DH
4. Eddie Rosario (L) LF
5. Mitch Garver ® C
6. Jake Cave (L) RF
7. Miguel Sano ® 3B
8. Marwin Gonzalez (S) 1B

Great job Blake! Time for the magic number to go to 8,

Welcome back Marwin. IMHO, with the exception of center field, this is the playoff lineup for Game One vs. Houston/New York.

Need to win tonight. The pitching match-up tomorrow is not favorable. Indians will likely win their next 3 at least. The division race is not over.

My, my! Lopez has been all over the board. In August and September, he has had three outstanding starts, three dreadful starts and two meh starts. The Twins need this game, let's get it done.

Random thought but I remember near the trade deadline in a best Twins trade thread I said getting Zack Littell for Jaime Garcia was one of the best trades the Twins had ever done, simply because Littell was actually in the majors. This trade is looking better and better by the day

Yeah, the Twins were hoping to strike fire with the B-squad and another start by committee. They almost did, but then realized that fielding is also part of the game. The two things that stood out...was it necessary to have Gibson come in as a relief pitcher (you still had Alcala and Hildenberger) and why not have Garver and Cruz at least bat once each for someone of lesser talents, replaced then in the field by someone with even lesser talents.

Three tough teams ahead. They have nothing to prove except a lot of players hoping for work in 2020, especially pitchers. So watch out. Do your homework, Twins. Let the bombers come out bigtime. Watch out for base runners. And remember, a lot of pitchers did get the day off yesterday, as well as players.

Be nice to win the division in a home series!

Well here we go the last few series. I expect a mild grind to the division crown from here, hard enough to make some sweat, easy enough to get the roster rested and lined up.

An big early lead with lots of bombas would be nice.

Then again, Berrios does seem to have a slight problem with making it through 5 with big leads.

Twins seem to also have a history of making pitchers with over 5 ERA's look like all stars...

The Pale Hose have been giving up some runs lately, including 11 yesterday, using 7 pitchers. Tonight, we need to get into their bullpen and cripple it for the rest of the series. NO MERCY!!

An interesting fact as I did in depth research to see who is likely to hit a bomba or two this evening is that NONE of the bomba blasters has more HRs at Target Field than on the road.

Other than Castro, who not really considered a slugger (7 at home and 5 on the road) and Gonzalez (10/5), only Garver has as many HRs at home as he's hit elsewhere (15/15).

Given that, tonight's candidates are Garver, Gonzalez, Cruz (18/19) or Kepler (17/19), and let's throw Cave in there just for fun (3/4).

The caffeine in your favorite soda pop, energy drink and headache reliever comes from decaffeinating coffee beans. Are you sure you want to prevent decaf coffee?
