Cron's provided better defense than I expected along with worse hitting than I hoped for. The same could be said for Schoop.

Really didn't know what to expect from Cron at 1B defensively, but have been impressed thus far.

Seems to me, and it's still very early, Cron and Schoop are just starting to heat up.

Concur. Particularly Schoop, he has looked really good.

b-r.com offers "splits" for any pitcher's season. Here's Odo's for this season so far:

https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=odorija01&year=2019&t=p

Scroll down to "By Inning", and maybe linger on some of the other delights on your way there.

Four first inning runs in 3 games. Scoreless seconds and thirds, in 2 games. A run in two fourths. Three runs in two fifths.

His page for 2018, with greater sample size of course, demonstrates a 3-inning pitcher to my eye.

Thanks Ash! Very interesting and very weird numbers! Of course, they don't include tonight's game.

Very SSS, of course so early in the season, but a poor 1st followed by quality and then a mediocre 4th IP, horrible 5th, and then a quality 6th, in his 1st start. He's just kind of over all the place.

I am OK, entire career performance considered, with Odorizzi as the 5th SP. Hell, if Perez could carry over ST and his first start, I'd be fine with him as the 5th SP. I just don't like BOTH of them in the rotation.

I have stated many times that I feel Odorizzi, with his stuff, and his ability to "fool" hitters with the high strike, could be an excellent RP, fireman or otherwise. He could probably earn as much or more than he has/does now just accepting that role. Possibly even lengthen his career.

Unfortunately, for the Twins at least, unless be can duplicate tonight's start, and his first start, on a more consistent basis, he remains a mediocre backend SP.
