Twodogs Verified Member Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 I was watching the MLB channel and Ripken said that Rocco Baldelli is in the best position to do well as a first year manager. Just some positive stuff to see.

nclahammer Verified Member Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Too soon for Buxton trade talk.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 And Plesac quickly voted for Schoop when asked if he or Dozier would have a better year. But neither thought of Buxton when asked for the best base stealer.
Twodogs Verified Member Posted January 17, 2019 Author Posted January 17, 2019 Yeah I was thinking Buxton also, for obvious reasons, as I am a twins fan. However then I thought to myself that he hardly played last year so they probably didn't even think about him?
Doomtints Verified Member Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Did the Twins exploit the extra year of control just to trade Buxton away? I would guess no, at least not at this point. Besides, why trade when you can DFA and THEN trade? Much more fun.

His trade value better be a major consideration in the justification of gaining the extra year of control.

Twins have plenty of capable of taking over in CF and Pollock is still out there with his prices dropping every day most likely.

SF Twins Fan Verified Member Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 And ESPN suggested a trade of Buxton to Colorado for Jon Gray to restart both players! I would think the Twins could get a better return than Gray for Buxton if he has even a halfway decent season at the plate.
Don Walcott Verified Member Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Gray has tremendous potential, and a move away from Coors Field would likely help his career. However, the Rockies have historically had a really hard time attracting starting pitching. They have a great group of young pitchers right now, and I find it hard to believe that they would trade any of them. I also think trading Buxton would come back to haunt the Twins.
