Doomtints Verified Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Seems like bull*** games don't mask your lack of pitching talent, it simply exacerbates it. But hey, if it's going to be either 4 runs in the 5th or 4 runs in the 1st, if it's in the 1st I am free to go off and do something else.
big dog Verified Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Hopefully they get this out of their system before too long so we never have to see it again. Great track record so far, though
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Yeah, what a wasted season.
wavedog Verified Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 May was going great in the bullpen until this opener thing. Whatever we do is the wrong thing. Now it looks the big guy is hurt bad - bringing the cart out.
Linus Verified Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 I’m confused how this could happen with all that veteran leadership behind the dish
David HK Verified Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 So, is this the game thread today? Heh... Dick: "That'll load 'em up for Adrianza..." Yup, that would strike fear in any pitcher's heart. Oops, but then, the dreaded first pitch pop-up, after 2 straight walks, with Verlander missing badly. Oh, not to worry, tho, that power-hitting young prospect Gimenez will pick him up. Oops, again... This is how we BASEBALL! Yay!
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 If this a thread, I'd like to say I don't like the lineup at all. Molitor should be fired.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 If this a thread, I'd like to say I don't like the lineup at all. Molitor should be fired. This game encapsulates what a "lost season" looks like.
David HK Verified Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Good first inning for the Kid. *Edit** I mean, second? Or maybe first-second inning? Heck, I'm flummoxed, this opener thingy.... Ah, well, off to class anyway. And still pissed at Adrianza for that at-bat. And MoY for playing Gimenez, for God's sake.
Fargoguy Provisional Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 I get home and turn the game on just in time to watch Sano get carted off the field. Yikes.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 I know there has been talk over the years about the ‘specialization’ of relief pitchers and getting them to pitch in different roles, but I think it’s really bad to all of a sudden tell them they are starting. I think that’s a good way to mess with them and potentially ruin them.
adorduan Verified Member Posted September 5, 2018 Author Posted September 5, 2018 So it looks like the only reason to keep watching is to possibly find how badly Sano is hurt......
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Why the **** is Grossman batting cleanup again?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 I get home and turn the game on just in time to watch Sano get carted off the field. Yikes.I didn’t turn the game on until after that. Any updates?
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 I didn’t turn the game on until after that. Any updates? Not yet. It did not look good.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 And MoY for playing Gimenez, for God's sake.Molitor is like my mom's dog ... you can give him all the shiny new toys you want, but at the end of the day he's going to take one look at them before going back to the crusty squeaky toy that hasn't done anything in a decade.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Why the **** is Grossman batting cleanup again?Where else do you hit Baseball Prospectus' 2012 preseason 76th best prospect?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Not yet. It did not look good.I just watched it. Ugh.

Winston Smith Verified Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Why the **** is Grossman batting cleanup again? He's one of the key building blocks for the next world series run, didn't you know that?
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Pathetic. This opener needs to die a quick death like the wild cat in football.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 We've really jerked around May in general. If I'm him, I'd be hoping for an opportunity with another organization.Yeah, he was the one I had in mind especially when I posted that.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Why the **** is Grossman batting cleanup again? It's because Molitor likes him and isn't a good manager.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Pathetic. This opener needs to die a quick death like the wild cat in football.Yeah, but if Stewart goes 5 shutout innings, they're going to use it to say "see, told you Tampa Bay is onto something."
Fargoguy Provisional Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Why the **** is Grossman batting cleanup again?I don't know if you noticed but this team is brutal. Maybe we can invent some semantics to mask our cleanup hitter. No good starting pitching option? No problem, have a reliever start and call him an opener. No cleanup hitters on the roster? No problem, bat Grossman 4th and call him a _____________(fill in the blank).
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 What could Sano have done? All he did was take a walk?
adorduan Verified Member Posted September 5, 2018 Author Posted September 5, 2018 I didn’t turn the game on until after that. Any updates?Just said the x-rays were negative....
