Closing the Hicks thread

I thought my explanation in the closing post was pretty explanatory. It was only being used by others to take you to task or by you or others still upset by the trade to take the Twins to task.

 

Any meaningful dialogue had long expired.

I don't care one way or the other, but that does raise a question.....

 

if no one was complaining, and people were still enjoying posting, why do the mods care that it was old and not serious? Now, if for some reason people participating were complaining, I'd ask why there were participating......I didn't see a lot of meanness, but some pettiness. Was it the tone of the site you wanted to protect (which makes sense)? I'm just curious.

It's a shame it was shut down, because a day or so later Hicks had a monster game: hit a home run and robbed a grand slam.

I don't think it takes too much to understand why it was closed. Reviewing the last two pages reveals several, subtle snarky posts that's sole intent was to deride the Hicks trade, depending on how he played on any given night and whichever side of the divide one stood.

It wasn't a healthy thread, the purpose of the thread was to revisit the Hicks/Murphy trade now that some time has passed and it's impact is more known. It had degenerated beyond that and was nothing more than a daily referendum on the trade and was getting fairly petty.
