Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2018 Author Posted December 10, 2018 Wheat thins are the dog's favorite treats?Evidently so! My dog will break through a brick wall for string cheese.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Evidently so! My dog will break through a brick wall for string cheese. My dogs act with equal absurd amounts of enthusiasm for whatever I am about to give them. I have no basis of determining their favorites.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Here's a pic of my older dog (Bluebear) getting to lick the peanut butter jar, and my younger dog's (Gato) response.
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Wheat thins are the dog's favorite treats? The dog probably has a crush on Sandy Duncan (back when commercials went big for their spokespeople). We had a dog who could have cared less if the refrigerator door opened, but if it was the freezer and there was a chance for ice cream she would be appear out of nowhere. We had another dog that would growl happily while eating bacon, which is not that unusual. Years later when he was getting up there in age, he suddenly started doing the same thing while eating potato chips, but even being more dramatic. We figured he was either losing his sense of taste and he was fooled by the texture of the chips, or he was being sarcastic (if any dog could be sarcastic, it would have been Fred.)

My dog had never had peanut butter until the vet gave her a spoonful to keep her focused on something while they tried to take her blood pressure. I thought she was going to pass out from happiness. I started putting it in a Kong until I realized I was gaining weight from eating half of the jar myself. I then switched to the fake meat equivalent of cheese in a can and was able resist eating the dog's Kong filling.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Oat Thins? Do they even make those anymore?

Where's my treat? Similar to the look on Ronnie when I'm eating and he has to go to his bed away from the table.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Gato's saying what the heck dad? Where's my treat?Gato got the lid, he just finished early.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Gato got the lid, he just finished early. Mine work in tandem. The pug gets the jar first, gets as far as his pug nose will let him go, and then the poodle takes the jar and cleans out the rest.

biggentleben Verified Member Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 I love this. Pictures or doesn't count (next time). You are in luck! I will be making puppy chow with the boy this weekend, so I will use up a jar (or two) of peanut butter. Pics shall be forthcoming!

I wonder how the exchange between pooches took place. Poodle was having some trouble but I'm sure s/he figured it out.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Usually it’s a matter of the pug leaving the jar and she’ll sneak in and grab it. She noticed me filming, so she was very tempted to come to me, which is probably why she was struggling. We didn’t catch the trade off last night as we were mixing up puppy chow at the time and came out to find the poodle had the jar now.
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 So, I promised pics, but here are vids instead: Nevermind the Star Wars background lolWhat a bastard, that pug! Ha! Good win though, he wanted it more.
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 ...or she. I can’t ever tell with dogs. Sorry.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 ...or she. I can’t ever tell with dogs. Sorry. It's a he...a fixed he, but a he. And they typically will go for it in this manner. She knows that she'll get the last half of the jar, so she lets him get what he can with his pug nose, then sticks her skinny nose sometimes all the way in the jar, depending on the brand.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 I really want to play a well-produced open world video game where the player-character is a dog. Too much to ask?Well, it looks like I might get my wish (aside from the well-produced part)https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/143870832/home-free-0
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted January 1, 2019 Author Posted January 1, 2019 Well worth the 6 minutes. I'm not crying, you're crying.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2019 Author Posted January 13, 2019 This sweet boy is 1 year old today!
biggentleben Verified Member Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 We got a third dog, with the thought that this would be the dog the kids could claim as their own as our other two were in the home before they were. Needless to say, the kids are more easy parenting/disciplining at this point as she was not fixed when we got her (3 year old pug), and she has been very, very territorial around my wife especially, so plenty of fights have ensued. That said...she's now part of our family!
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2019 Author Posted July 12, 2019 My boy is now a year and a half! 65 lbs now but still the same sweet, affectionate puppy.

Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 I’m years late... but this Sally she’s a 4 year old Newfoundland. A petite 104 lbs and gentle as can be with my kids.
