drjim Provisional Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 For more info: http://m.startribune.com/twins-add-reliever-chris-heston-release-nick-tepesch/427098281/ It was a good run for Tepesch.
old nurse Verified Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 He had a decent 2015. That is one more of decent work than Tepesch
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Guessing Rosario is optioned for the 25-man spot.
bluechipper Provisional Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 He gave up 14 hits in 5 innings with the Mariners this year. I think he'll fit in just fine.

Tuba Verified Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Heston: 19.80 ERA, Rosario 30.86 ERA 19 < 30 Therefore, upgrade. It's easy being a GM!
brettbrett88 Verified Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 so do you think he's an improvement on what you have? One article says he's a relief pitcher but his wiki page says hes a starting pitcher? I'm a Brit still trying to learn all aspects of the game so please forgive my lack of knowledge...I see the term is he's been 'claimed off waivers'...what sort of contract does he have with the Twins? Thanks
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 He had 3.41 ERA, 1.17 WHIP (.286 BABIP), 22.1 K% in the PCL this season. The only AAA Twins' pitcher better than him is Nik Turley. Who makes me think, why not Nik Turley? But an upgrade over Romero at this point and the Twins do need a fresh arm. Like Wilk he can be DFA'd in a week or so, if needed.

Thanks It's complicated He has been a starting pitcher mainly, and has made a few relief appearances in the majors. Sounds like the Twins will use him out of the pen. "Claimed off Waivers" means that his contract will be the same he had with his previous team, likely MLB-minimum or close to it.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Well... his full name is Christopher Lee Heston. Hope he is blood thirsty
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 I sure hope that our management is not basing decisions on a two month minor league data sample. At least not those available on fangraphs. I would assume they have seen Heston pitch and have video. We really rely on the talents of the eyes watching these players.
