Game Thread: Twins @ Orioles, 5/23 @ 6:05 CT

Good afternoon and welcome back to the Minnesota Twins baseball Game Thread!  After watching the game last night it got me thinking about the direction this team is headed...Still in first place after May 22nd and it looks like we're only getting better.  If Ervin and Jose can keep throwing well and Mejia steps it up the season could get very interesting during the late summer months.

 

The youth and energy on this team is fun to watch!  I read a few Game Thread posts last night about people still not "believing" in what this team is doing right now.  Yes, we have holes to fill but try to sit back and relish what these guys are doing right now.  After living through last years disaster I can't wait to get home at night and watch this team play.  

 

From an offensive and defensive aspect I think they can get a lot better from here.  From a pitching perspective we need another 1 or 2 good starters and more depth in the bullpen.  There are rays of hope though even in the pitching ranks: Santana, Berrios, Duffy, etc.

 

Tonight Santana is going up against a good hitting team.  It will be fun to watch how the Orioles adapt to his pitches.  Another good showing tonight by the Twins and I think you will see them garner a little more national attention.  Stay positive Twins fans!  Today is a new day (and year).

 

Speaking of the Orioles, here are some interesting facts about that type of bird:

 

• A Baltimore Oriole nest looks like a stuffed sock when completed.  Weird...
• Orioles can live up to 12 years in the wild.  Longer than the careers of most of the Orioles current lineup.
• Baltimore Orioles are very sensitive to pesticides.  Last night during pre-game warm ups I saw most of the Twins lineup lathering Chlordane (nasty termite pesticide) on their uniforms.
• Most Orioles will keel over dead when struck by a 90mph baseball or BB gun.

Hopefully we get this game in tonight.  Rain in the forecast.

I'm one of those non-believers, but I'm still watching the games and enjoying the ride regardless.  I was still watching games in September last year though, so I'm not sure what that really says about me.  Either way, winning is still more fun than losing and they are playing cleaner baseball.

Bundy is tough-has one of the better change-ups in the game. Will be a good test to see if our hitters can make adjustments.

How do people decide what they're going to do for those fancy handshakes with multiple hands, several steps, and a chest bump? Like do you actually sort of sit down and choreograph it? That seems super lame, but how else would that work?

Just finished first softball game.

 

I went 0-3, making the final out on a pop up.

I just turned on Gameday to get some stats. They had Bundy listed on the cover page with a 2.87 ERA but no innings pitched. How does a guy do that? I mean if he hasn't pitched, how did he give up earned runs? Even the Twins bull pen can't do that.

 

They also list him as a brother to Bobby Bundy. Okay, that's two Bundy's I hadn't heard of. The only Bundys I've heard of are Ted the serial killer and Cliven, the whacko rancher who believes he doesn't think he should pay to graze his cattle on our land.

 

Now before you get your Bundys in a bunch, keep in mind I don't get out much so I might be missing something. If they wouldn't keep the key to the rubber room on the other side of the door I'd get out more.

 

Do you know why they can't find Waldo? They think he's a cereal killer.
