Justin Morneau Reunion?

Kennys Vargas does have a 4th option year. The Twins got a fourth option year for Vargas.

...

Jorge Polanco will likely have similar eligibility should he need it.

Unfortunately no 4th option on Polanco. The Twins somehow managed to roster him for 92 days in 2010 by splitting his season between two rookie leagues, so it counted as a "full season" for him when it did not count as such for Vargas or Kepler.

So Polanco is out of options now, and thus guaranteed a 25 man roster spot this spring.

Nice work. And a rather large oversight by the Twins. It seems like teams would be more wary of this, especially with players who are kind of middling prospects who might be up and down. (To argue against myself though, I guess you also have to ask how often this happens. It takes a pretty big confluence of factors to make something like this happen).

Not the worst thing for Polanco to be guaranteed a roster spot. I'm not sure that AAA would do him much good. And for a Twins team that would see .500 as a real nice year, maybe a half year playing SS 3-4 times a week and other IF spots a few days a week isn't the worst thing in the world (in spite of his likely subpar play at short).

But it was a Minnesota reporter that mentioned it to begin with....hard to give the Twins the blind benefit of the doubt on this one, especially what has happened thus far this off season and the last 20+

That makes no sense.

So a couple hundred message board participants see that the Twins are over crowded at 1B and DH but the new front office doesn't?

You can't blame Morneau's agent from reaching out to any and everyone but trying to pin this on the Twins is just looking for a reason to dump on the new guys.

Oops, my bad, yeah it was Mike B.

I think Mike B is great and very trustworthy to be honest

Yeah, but he was interviewing Michael Cuddyer who most likely has very little working knowledge of free agent discussions.

So far we have not moved forward during this off-season, unless you are bedazzled by Castro, and our hope for moving forward are new, younger players.  Loved Morneau back when he and Mauer were both good - they are not any more and bringing him back is a step back.  Is there any team in baseball more likely to bring back their former players?

Yeah, but he was interviewing Michael Cuddyer who most likely has very little working knowledge of free agent discussions.

one of Cuddyer's duties is as as a resource for player acquisitions. It didn't specify if it was just via FA or trades, but seems like he may be involved in front office talks about FA. "Resource" is kind of vague though so can't be sure one way or another.
