The Twins aren't teaching fastball control in the lower levels? My assumption is that there isn't an organization in baseball where that wouldn't be taught.

Well Allen didn't say the Twins weren't teaching FB command but he did say they didn't actually make the young guys get a handle on it.

The Allen retention also surprises me, but to be fair we as fans have seen this abomination for much longer than Favely and Levine have. We may be too deep into the forest to see the trees. We did want outsider perspective after all, it's not like we're outsiders.

The new bosses liked the pitching?

I do not know. I did not comment on it so why are you asking me?

Isn't it command that kept Meyer in the minors?

Pretty much... but that doesn't mean they were teaching it and encouraging it as the most important thing a pitcher can have.

See Berardino's article on October 13: fastball command will move from being part of the curriculum to being the primary focus in the lower minors.

did not say it was not being taught, just not as high a priority as pitch development.  Rays do not seem to let pitchers advance too far without that command.  It also seems to be why Rays pitchers called up to the majors seem to be more likely to succeed at this level.

To be doing this project Allan must have been told he was likely to be retained and what he would change given another year in the organization.  Only hope it may be that simple.

The lack of advancement must be leading to why they traded for so many of their pitchers.

I can see more changes being made next off-season.  I assume Falvey and Levine know a bit about the coaching staff/front office, but have not really seen them in action.  If incumbents who are staying go about their routines the same way they have in the past and get the same results I assume they will not be here long.

Bruno should not be missed by many. Would the consider Torii?

Based on his never having coached before in his life?

Welcome to the site, but I don't want someone who has never coached at any level as a MLB coach.

No ill will towards Bruno, but I think this will go a long way towards relaxing the younger guys coming up. I would hear Bruno barking at Buxton between pitches of his at bat and think to myself: please stop.

My kids have had a HS coach who would do that.  Drives me crazy - if you haven't taught them how to hit before they step in the box, it's too late.

It wasn't just Buxton.  Gladden pointed it out when this happened many times last year, I think he got sick of hearing it.  Rosario was another favorite target.
