They are probably a couple of weeks from bringing up the youth, but at the currant pace, I believe it will happen before the end of May.  Problem is to find trading partners, so value can be obtained from the pieces the Twins trade, not just given away.

For some given their contracts and performance so far this year, giving away might be a bargain for the Twins

Then look at posts 25, 26, and 28

but the thread has become about taking John Hicks off the roster, presumably to make room on the 40 for someone and the fear is its for David Murphy so Kepler can be sent to AAA. So now a third catcher isn't on the 40 but there could potentially be a huge glut of outfielders...

Sorry for the silliness. I will try to be serious with each and every post.

If they needed a third catcher it would be easy enough to add one to the 40 man.

I think they need a first and second catcher.

Obviously they thought John Hicks was not going to be it.

Can they put a Darth Vader helmet on Joe?  JUST KIDDING

Makes much more sense for Murphy and his horrendous .138/.194/.241 AAA slash line to sit in Rochester or get the hey out of the Twins' organization and into the independents where he belongs...

Cannot believe that Ryan lost Hicks over Murphy... On the other hand...

At one point in the spring I was hoping Hicks would come north and be the bench catcher and Murphy would catch everyday to start at AAA, especially after his horrendous spring. But now...

But they already had one. And now they don't. So they no longer have him as an option, if needed, and will need to expose someone else to waivers to open a spot, if they do.

They specifically kept Hicks on the 40 man, meaning they thought he was closest to helping if needed, and then decide before April is up they were wrong?

Who is running this show?

Hicks was DFA'd by Seattle. That should have  been  a red  flag that the guy might be an AAAA kind of player. (100% opinion and Speculation alert)  The Twins FO might have  had some hope that the crack coaching staffs they employ could coach the player to a higher level. I would hazard a guess that after ST and the season progressed, the players in Chattanooga look like they could be of help so the 40th man on the roster was let go for someone else easily jettisoned if there is nothing there.    .   Hicks was a harmless flyer that should have normally had the people complaining that Turner was being blocked by a fringe player
