David HK Verified Member Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Just curious today, so went over to check some Tiger stats, and see what an old friend might be up to--- Ouch. Pelf's off to a very familiar looking start. And, golly, there's another guy on that team not getting out of the gate too well yet either.
The Wise One Verified Member Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 The team defense for the Tigers is not at the bottom of the rankings. Even though the so called fielding independent statistics say there are better days ahead for these guys, I think otherwise. A high BABIP is either rotten luck, or the pitcher is not fooling people as much. The latter is more likely, thus they will continue to suck
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 I think he's working as a sleeper agent for the Twins.
ThejacKmp Provisional Member Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Not to quibble because Mike Pelfrey is the definition of a borderline 5th starter but last year he actually had a pretty good start of the year. It was the ending that was his issue.
Monkeypaws Verified Member Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 He has been walking a tightrope vs. KC tonight, about 25 pitches per inning in the 4th, losing 4-0, but gutsy as hell. Royals have stranded 7, and 3 of the runs are earned(or should be). He had no help from the Ump. Fun watching Pelf do his thing, for someone else that is.

He's got that in spades, and he does battle his tail off out there, as they say.But you're right, it's more fun enjoying those battles from a safe distance!

No help from the umpire perhaps, but plenty from his defense. Minor miracle he got out of the first with only one run allowed.
