I believe the school of thought is simple: Nolasco is pitching better and gives us a better chance to win games right now.

Spring training stats have to be put into context. Aaron Hicks is a prime example.  Pitching 13 mediocre innings against mostly minor league hitters doesn't erase 2 years of being terrible. We've watched Tyler Duffy have success with the Twins and we've watched Nolasco struggle for 2 years now. A handful of meaningless innings in March shouldn't weigh heavily on the decision made. I'll say it again, if Nolasco "wins," the job its because the Twins went to FL with the intention of handing it to him. There is no other way a guy who has been that bad for 2 years earns a rotation spot. Its inexcusable.

Is it really so hard to take what people say at face value? Some people insist on doing biblical-style exegesis on off the cuff remarks.

Was the job Duffey's to lose? That's what the man said.

Do you know why he lost it? No, but I guess feel free to ask next time you see Paul Molitor.

I'm okay with this for the time being IF.....IF it's only temporary until we find a trading partner for Nolasco.  What i fear is he pitches well and the Twins procrastinate and decide to keep him through the conclusion of that contract holding back Duffey, Berrios and May.  At SOME POINT they have to start clearing room for these young starters.  Otherwise you might as well trade them.

Nolasco lining up to be the 4 starter right now doesn't mean anything. With two early off days the Twins might not even use a fifth starter for a week and a half.

Nolasco will probably stay in Ft. Myers to get some work in until then.

Twins don't skip starters.  Nolasco will pitch Exhibition game #2 @ Washington on Saturday.  Milone will stay in FM to pitch in a Minor League game on Sunday before joining the team in Baltimore on Monday.

Isn't it fun to argue over the 5th starter? Remember when Nolasco was our opening day starter? Or how about Worley or Pavano? It's nice to have decent starters at the top for a change
