What are your (non-sports) go to websites?

 

fivethirtyeight is number 1 for me, now that Grantland is gone. Great in-depth analysis of politics, science, sports, and culture. The article on p scores, you aren't going to find many places.....

 

ENWorld used to be in the top, but I don't play D&D as much anymore.....

ShaggyTexas.com ... Blog that's got a similar set-up to TD. A section for TX sports (which I ignore completely) but other sections for restaurants/food, music shows, books, movies/TV, video games, and sharing drunk stories.. Profanity is allowed on that site as a forewarning if you check it out. 

I'm also one of those weirdos that uses Bing... Why not earn Amazon gift cards for work related searches? And they have a news feed of the top articles of the day that is good for a click or 2 from me. 

supercook.com is pretty cool too. Basically you input what you have in the refrigerator/pantry, and it comes up with recipes that work for what you have. As a guy who runs out of dinner ideas easily, it works out well. 

I use social media less and less every day, but I guess I can still say Twitter and Facebook.

Same here ... though I've been trying to cut back on fb so mostly I just go on it for news ... it's sort of a gratifying experience because I get to waste time on fb (it'd be easier to just type out npr.org) without actually feeling like I'm wasting time.

 

That, and ravelry.com, a knitting website I'm part of. Yeah, I knit. It's not uncool. I'm making a lace scarf right now ... it's supposed to look like tiger eyes, but it reminded me more of Rothbart from Swan Lake, so I'm calling mine Odile - not that I'm going to affectionately call it by its name the way I call my flute Bellamy, but every project needs a name. It's going to be much lacier after I block it; I shared the link to the pattern page since the photo of mine is somewhat deceptive.

Thanks for the suggestion! I didn't realize that site had so many avenues... There's videos relating to teachers and students, how to pay a pizza delivery person if you don't have money, and fun activities to do on a bus!
